Is BN, Umno in particular, simply void of talented leaders that none of them can shoulder the responsibility of prime minister?

PAS vice president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man in a statement today said it was not necessary for former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad to "attack" his successors; current Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak and Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.

 

"This is because it was him who recommended them both. He had failed to propose suitable prime minister candidates," he said.

Tuan Ibrahim ( left ) said Mahathir's incessant attacks on Najib showed his disappointment with Najib's "failed leadership".

"This failure will lead to the failure of Vision 2020, which was supposed to be the landmark for future leaders.

"Failure to achieve Vision 2020 is the result of the failure to bring about progress for the rakyat," he said.

The Pahang PAS commissioner added that achievement is not based on the rakyat's per capita income alone, which is far from what is expected.

It's also measured by the government's failure to provide basic amenities to the rakyat as well.

"Maybe Mahathir has already imagined how disappointing it will be when the Vision 2020 declaration is read in the future.

"This is because it will no longer be a success as a result of his plans, but the destruction of a dream that had turned into a nightmare," he said.

Criticisms against Najib include Mahathir questioning who had ordered the murder of Altantuya Shaariibuu. The former premier had also slammed Najib's brainchild, 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB).

A week after enduring a barrage of criticism from Mahathir, Najib appeared in a pre-recorded interview on TV3 to address some of the allegations.

He revealed that he had met Mahathir several times in the past, alluding that their ongoing spat was the result of his refusal to revive the crooked bridge project.

Mahathir however denied that his criticism against Najib was related to the abandoned crooked bridge project, pointing out that if he was angry over it, he would have asked Najib to resign before the last general election.
