The fake statement claimed the government will take over the area for "city development" and will start demolition work on May 2.

It comes after outcry when a church in Taman Medan, Petaling Jaya took down its cross following a demonstration by about 50 residents last Sunday.

Protestors, including IGP's brother Abdullah Abu Bakar and the former Petaling Jaya Selatan Umno Wanita chief Munaliza Hamzah, said this is as the area is 95 percent Muslim.

Munaliza, who was BN's Taman Medan candidate for the 2013 general election said the protest was not Umno-backed .

Abdullah, who is also Umno Taman Lindungan Jaya branch chief later said he was there to mediate between residents and the church.

He was questioned by police for three hours on Tuesday, over his involvement in the demonstration.
