Selangor Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali today denied making accusations against inspector-general of police (IGP) Khalid Abu Bakar during a ceramah (political talk) in Permatang Pauh, recently.
He said he was merely posing a question to Khalid during the talk and that he had submitted a copy of the video clipping of the talk to his lawyer.
“I was posing a question to IGP, not accusing him. Do I need to apologise for asking a question?” he told reporters after handing over UPSR achievement awards to Tamil school students in Selangor in Shah Alam today.
Mohamed Azmin was commenting on the alleged statement he made insulting Khalid by calling him an Umno ‘barua’ or lackey during a political talk in Permatang Pauh, recently.
He reiterated that his statement was only directed to the IGP and not the entire police force.
On another note, the menteri besar said the state wanted the Langat 2 water supply project to be completed in due course and that the federal government should fulfill all the terms and conditions set by the local authorities.
Mohamed Azmin, who wanted the water restructuring exercise in the state to be resolved amicably, said the state had other options apart from Langat 2 to ensure sufficient raw and treated water supply for domestic and industrial use.
Syabas and Puncak Niaga Holdings Bhd (PNHB) executive chairperson Rozali Ismail on Wednesday said the issues related to the restructuring of the water industry in Selangor needed to be resolved at the soonest to avoid taps running dry in the state with water reserves at below five per cent.
“We need the Langat 2 now and additional water supply as reserves are very low,” he was quoted as saying.
