A just move by a good employer, Borders

YOURSAY ‘Jawi action not case of blasphemy, it’s one of old fashioned bullying.’

Borders strikes back, gives Jawi ultimatum

SteveOh : Borders should also get legal advice and sue the Federal Territories Islamic Affairs Department (Jawi) for a range of malicious actions. The continued harassment of Nik Raina on account of her religion is discrimination. The government has failed to rein in one of its runaway departments that is undermining the constitutional rights of citizens and the court's authority.

PM Najib Abdul Razak has failed to protect this diligent Malay woman who has been a victim for far too long. What a shame.

Watchtower : A just move by a good employer. Employers need to defend their employees for such unfortunate persecution. Borders store manager Nik Raina Nik Abdul Aziz is just doing her job and earning her living to feed her family, why must the authorities relentlessly wants to find fault in her, in the process wasting good money and resources for what? To satisfy the ego of a few?

Society needs to stand up for what is right, to remove those officials who hurt ordinary folks rather than help them. Go all the way and humble the proud who stand in the way.

RatBatBlue : Go the whole way, Borders. Do not waver whatever happens. It’s not a case of blasphemy, it’s one of "old fashioned bullying”. The poor lady is being victimized, intimidated and harassed since she is a Muslim lady, first of all. It’s quite plain to see that no fault can be pinned on Nik Raina. So why are these so called ‘guardians of morals’ hell bent on crucifying her?

Stand your ground and by your employee, Borders, as she is depending on your help to rid her of this menace. In the past, such incidents would end with the victims capitulating to these ‘religious zealots’. I think now is the time to be firm with them and say,” No way!"

God helps Malaysia : Where are the voices of either the Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim), Ikatan Muslimin Malaysia (Isma) and whatever government religious authority in issues such as - the child porn offender who had a Mara loan, corruption, rape cases and high crime rates in the country. I really do not understand all this. Which are more serious? Why only bully the weak?

Glad they will be meeting their maker one day soon and have a lot of answering to do.

Swipenter : Some still believe that they have a mandate from heaven to rule. They should go back in time to the Middle Ages and/or Dark Ages to spend the rest of their holier-than-thou lives there.

BH Yap : It's the right thing for Borders to take the offensive. Raina deserves justice. What is there in Jawi and on what basis does the Islamic body refuse to offer justice to Raina, even if only compassion, which is Islamic and their action of hounding her is so questionable?

Negarawan : As former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad has aptly pointed out, fatwa in Malaysia are enforced by these hypocritical religious authorities as law, when in fact they are just opinions. It is time to put a stop to this nonsense. Borders is doing the right thing.

Jawi and Jakim exemplify the type of negative attitude that feeds into the increasing Islamic bigotry and extremism in Malaysia. The Umno government has utterly failed in stopping Islamic extremism, which is gradually destroying the fabric of multiracial Malaysia.

Psy : Wrong from first day onwards and yet still want to persecute others.

Najib denies Parliament a 'rubber stamp'

Abasir : PM Najib Abdul Razak's views on Parliament are about as authoritative and persuasive as mine are on the intricacies involved in performing a prefrontal lobotomy. This pretender, who is averse to any form of debate whether inside or outside Parliament, was merely reading out from a script prepared by one of his inebriated consultants - not unlike the time he allegedly exhorted Umno Youth to emulate the bravery of Isil.

Firestone : Najib, how many times have you tabled the annual budget in Parliament and stayed back to debate the budget in your role as PM and finance minister? Irresponsible.

Swipenter : I think the speaker of the Parliament should be free will and an intelligent ‘robot’ instead of being perceived as a puppet on a string. Being independent, neutral and free from any bias perhaps hopefully there would be lively and intelligent debates in the Dewan.

Justice kini : Parliament sat until 4am to pass a bill, why cannot wait another day or two for real debate? Najib, how often did you attend parliament overall? You get your peons to do all the dirty jobs and you and the alleged First Lady of Malaysia (Flom) fly around.

The speaker, as an Umno man, would just push off most motions Pakatan intended to table. A speaker should not be in any party, but rather be a neutral person. Then we may see fruitful debates and motions passed or otherwise.

Well Thats Fantastic : The whole current government is set up to raise up those that speak golden words about the government, while those that don't soon find themselves out in the cold. Of course the PM has a rubber stamp, just look at the size of the PM's Department and its budget.

Anonymous # 03815719 : Tabung Haji’s deal with 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) is the final nail already in position to be nailed down. Syabas, Tabung Haji chairperson Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim for your contribution.

Hang Tua h: Whatever you say now, no one is going to believe you any more as you have shown your dishonesty again and again. Trust in you is gone, you have lost your integrity and respect from the people, period ! You can be the PM for now but the respect you get from your ministers and your Umno divisional leaders are all superficial because you use money to ‘buy’. They only smile at you because of the money. As you know, Umno is all about money.

SusahKes : Tik-tok, tik-tok, tik-tok, the clock is ticking. The countdown is on the way. How many more rounds are left?

Vijay47: Najib, I think you made a mistake, a simple one, in your statement, "I have never seen Parliament as just a rubber stamp." The correct statement should be, "I have never seen Parliament."
