Umno Cheras division chief Syed Ali Alhabshee supports the call made by Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin that the entire 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB)  board members be given the boot and allow the police to probe the company unhindered.

Syed Ali ( photo ) in a blog posting today also expressed his deep sadness that Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak has refused to heed Muhyiddin's advice.

“I completely support Muhyiddin as I, too, believe this is the only action that will convince Malaysians that the government is serious.

“For now, Najib is caught right in the middle of this financial mess amounting to alleged misappropriation of billions of ringgit. There is not a day that goes by without someone, be it an opposition leader or the public, registering their displeasure and anger against the PM,” he wrote.

Syed Ali's statement comes after a  leaked video   surfaced showing Muhyiddin in a closed-door meeting with Umno grassroots leaders last Saturday saying that the authorities should not wait longer and action should be taken against 1MDB.

The seven-minute video was uploaded by former New Straits Times editor Firdaus Abdullah yesterday onto YouTube and has been authenticated by Muhyiddin who said his speech at the event was his personal view.

Jho Low's fingerprints

Syed Ali said he shared the same opinion as Muhyiddin and reiterated that the prime minister immediately remove the 1MDB board and bgin police investigations.

Besides the board members, Syed Ali said flamboyant businessman Low Taek Jho ( photo ), popularly known as Jho Low, should also be investigated immediately by the police.

“Despite his denials, Jho Low's fingerprints are all over 1MDB with proven paper trails showing movement of money into a company owned by him.

“As mentioned earlier, there is a growing call for transparency and accountability by Malaysians to open up 1MDB's books.

Therefore we hope the PM will act fast to settle this issue once and for all,” Syed Ali stressed.
