DAP has turned down PKR's offer to mediate in its rift with PAS, which had decided to sever ties with DAP at its recent muktamar. 

 

"We do not need a middleman," said DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng in a press conference held at Parliament lobby today.

 

He pointed out DAP is a party set up since 1966 and had the most MPs in the opposition.

“Any issue can be discussed directly between the parties," he declared.

 

"We did not seek to cut ties with PAS. PAS was the one wanting to cut ties with us. PAS need to be fully responsible for its decision," he said.

PKR’s communication director Fahmi Fadzil had issued a statement yesterday which said the party plans to meet DAP and PAS.

 

The statement follows the PAS Dewan Ulama wing's motion to cut ties with DAP which was approved without debate by PAS' motions committee last Friday.

DAP itself has already cut ties with PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang, whom they complained had not adhered to the Pakatan Rakyat common policy framework and had snubbed Pakatan leadership meetings to resolve the issue.
