Calling for reconciliation, former Selangor menteri besar Muhammad Muhammad Taib said DAP should take the first step to retract its decision to sever ties with PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang.
DAP's decision had prompted PAS to retaliate by approving a motion to cease its political cooperation with the party at its muktamar last week.
"For a start, I would like to propose that DAP retract its statement to stop cooperation with Abdul Hadi," said Muhammad, who was a former Umno leader.
Muhammad, who is now with PAS, also urged the party's syura council and its top leadership to adopt an approach that can salvage the relationship of the Pakatan Rakyat parties.
The former menteri besar also urged DAP not to force Selangor Menteri Besar Azmin Ali to choose between PAS and DAP to maintain the state government.
"This is because the statement does not reflect the Pakatan spirit which has been given the mandate by the people of Selangor in the 13th General Election," he said.
On Tuesday, Selangor DAP chief Tony Pua asked Azmin, who is also PKR deputy president, to choose between DAP and PAS to run the Selangor government.
This is after PAS' Pokok Sena MP Mahfuz Omar made a similar call to Azmin.
This was based on the premise that the Pakatan coalition no longer existed after PAS approved the motion to sever ties with DAP.
However, PAS, under its new conservative-dominated leadership which initially pushed for the motion's approval, has insisted that the matter was not final.
Azmin has refused to be dragged into the tussle, calling it a "childish game".
Either a PKR-PAS or PKR-DAP government would place the Selangor government in a precarious position as it would only comprise 28 state assemblypersons out of the 56-member House, or exactly half.
