Ex-MB wants DAP to make first move on peace plan
Tholu: Former Selangor MB Muhammad Muhammad Taib, you say DAP should make the first move to retract its decision to sever ties with PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang to initiate a reconciliation.
Did you ask yourself what led to this decision of DAP to break ranks with Hadi? You surely know that the rejection by Hadi - not PAS - of PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Azizah who was named for the Selangor MB’s post by DAP and PKR to replace Khalid Ibrahim was the first fatal blow delivered by Hadi to DAP as well as PKR.
Then came PAS’ obstinate obsession to introduce hudud law which was not in Pakatan Rakyat's common policy platform.
This was a knockout punch that had caused incurable and irreversible “injury” to Pakatan, particularly to DAP, and you want it to make the first move towards reconciliation with a hypocritical, ungrateful, unscrupulous and a stealthy backstabber?
DAP does not exist is isolation but rather exists with the strong and full backing of its staunch supporters. It is undoubtedly clear that its supporters want it to permanently detach itself from an alliance with PAS.
Many non-Malays/Muslims voted for PAS because it was in the Pakatan coalition and a vote for PAS was considered a vote for the Pakatan coalition, which was optimistically expected to take over Putrajaya.
If ever DAP reconsiders reconciling with PAS, it would be tantamount to allowing Pakatan to form a government that is unstable and indecisive in the event it wins the next general elections.
It is better to part ways now, rather than to part ways after forming a Pakatan government and letting it to ignominiously collapse due to PAS’ archaic mentality and stupid antics and allowing BN to easily take over the reins of the government again.
And finally, although my one person’s vote will not make a difference in the next general election, I will not vote for any party in Pakatan if DAP “remarries” PAS. Parti Sosialis Malaysia, wish to contest in Cheras?
Old Timer: PAS is now run by clerics. PKR and DAP should know whether if PAS is able to govern or work with others as per Pakatan original vision. If not, it is better to part ways.
No organisation can be united and cohesive if the partners are not able to have a common value system and vision on the way forward. Selangor MB Azmin Ali is right in what he asked for.
Anyway, why is Taib telling others what to do? If he is capable, he should tell PAS leadership how to win Kedah and run Kelantan well, if indeed they listen to him.
Onyourtoes: Indeed, why DAP must make the first move? All Pakatan partners must openly declare adherence to the coalition’s core policies and principles.
If they cannot agree to this, then it is useless to ask DAP or PAS to retract anything. They should go their separate ways.
No more compromise on theocracy, please. It is too dangerous to mess around with this group of nincompoops.
Mosquitobrain: PAS is not Hadi. Hadi is not PAS. In politics, there is no permanent enemies or friends. Do not dilly-dally over this issue of whether to stay or split and let others capitalise in your internal squabbles.
Make the right choice. Do the best for Pakatan and the people. Pakatan must remember, do not take your supporters for a ride. Or else Pakatan will have to pay heavily for it.
P Dev Anand Pillai: Basically, this is just another act to show the Chinese that whatever the case may be, you cannot question Malay power.
Be it Umno in BN or PAS in Pakatan, the message is, what we decide in our AGMs or muktamars may sound dumb but at the end of the day, you have to submit to Malay power.
The question is, can today's generation continue with this path?
Fair Play: This message is intended to all top honchos of DAP, in particular Lim Kit Siang and Lim Guan Eng.
If you have read the comments posted here, almost all if not 100 percent, have sent you a very clear signal.
Compromise on your principle as this silly ex-MB of Selangor had wanted you to do by being the first to apologise in order to stamp their racist supremacy on you, you are dead ducks.
Just remember the right-thinking rakyat would likely send you into orbit in GE14 because you would have failed them.
MfM: So the non-Malays don't want PAS? You think you will get anything going against the majority?
There is absolutely no state where anyone can rule without the support from the Malays. Even Penang, where the Chinese slightly outnumber the Malays, it is easy to deal with because gerrymandering will ensure Umno rules.
Even if all the non-Malays unite, it's not possible to govern Malaysia. MCA and MIC understand this very well and work with Umno to ensure their interests are safeguarded.
Everyone is sick of PM Najib Razak, but DAP and its arrogance in overriding the rights of the people of Kelantan is the reason the situation has turned into what it is now.
Gunnerrun: I think it would be fair that for this to work, hefty sacrifices must be made. Maybe the old clan of the Islamic party should give way to the younger ‘more in touch with reality’ members.
Otherwise there is no point, it's just a marriage of convenience. Anyone can stoke the fire again and use religion to manipulate PAS.
Its members are mostly from rural areas which probably don’t understand the need to progress and embrace change.
