PAS Youth chief roasted over 'sexist' remark

Brickbats have been hurled at newly minted PAS Youth chief Nik Mohamad Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz for likening DAP to a woman.

His remark, according to DAP lawmaker Kasthuri Patto, was sexist in nature and exposed his mindset.

"It is a statement made with negative perception towards women and reveals Nik Abduh's character as someone with an antiquated mindset," she said in a statement.

She added that Nik Abduh, who is the son of the late PAS spiritual leader Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat, resorted to “low standard" arguments as he was depleted of ammunition.

"Perhaps Nik Abduh idolises the patriarchal ideology and therefore arrogantly claims that PAS is manly, whereas DAP is feminine when such a comparison fails to make sense

"So what is the real motive of the PAS Youth chief besides insulting women and considering them an object of ridicule?" she asked.

PAS: Woman can't divorce

Kasthuri was responding to Nik Abduh's Facebook post, in which he accused DAP of not being man enough to divorce PAS.

"I think DAP is like a woman. PAS is the one who is manly. The woman cannot lawfully ask for a divorce. That's why they are not committed to asking for a divorce," he had said.

Meanwhile, Kasthuri said when a leader makes an immature remark about women, he forgets that in the last general election, the number of women voters was 6,664,474 or 50.23 percent compared to men at 6,603,528 or 49.77 percent.

"This means the percentage of women voters was higher than men in the last polls and Nik Abduh's statement is a betrayal of trust with regard to his women voters.

"Not only has the dignity of women been ridiculed, but youths are also hurt and disappointed with this statement from a 'stone age' politician hiding behind the Youth mask," she added.
