PAS division: Are ties being cut with DAP or not?

The Bukit Katil PAS division has urged the party leadership not to delay its decision on the motion to sever ties with DAP any further.

The delays in reaching a final decision has caused anxiety among its grassroots members, it said, while the rakyat are asking to know what is PAS’ actual stance in the issue.

It said in a statement today that the Bukit Katil division has been badly affected by this due to its good relations with the local DAP division.

“PAS central leadership (needs to) give the final word immediately on PAS’ relations with DAP and PAS’ position within Pakatan Rakyat.

“Do not let this issue drag on and leave members and the people guessing at PAS’ actual stance.

“As a mature party, PAS and DAP needs to sit together and resolve any difficulties and prove to the rakyat that Pakatan is a strong coalition and can handle any issues that may arise,” the division said.

In addition, it also urged all DAP and PAS leaders to stop issuing press statements that may upset one another and cause disaffection among their members and supporters.

“For the leaders, the people and to see mature and professional PAS and DAP leaders who do not issue vindictive or childish statements.

“Therefore the Bukit Katil PAS division proposes that only the top leaders may issue statements, which must be constructive and not make matters worse,” it said.

Common ground

In the statement the Bukit Katil PAS also reminded both parties that they have common ground in toppling BN in elections to set up a clean and transparent government that prioritises the people’s welfare and wellbeing.

“Therefore there is much room for future cooperation although it may not be in the form of a written pact.

“The Bukit Katil PAS really hopes that PAS would continue to work with DAP and PKR within Pakatan to ensure the continuity of our rule in Pakatan states and serve in the name of Pakatan in constituencies that we have won,” they said.

Speaking on the division’s stance, they said that they would continue their partnership with DAP and PKR in programmes and activities in their constituency, no matter what the central leadership decides.

“Bukit Katil PAS is of the view that we are free to befriend anyone on basis of PAS’ nature as a political party and we are confident that the spirit of ‘make friends, not enemies’ can further PAS’ causes on the national political stage.

“Prophet Muhammad himself often befriended and helped anyone, even the Jews who resented him,” they said, while also calling for a special independent committee to investigate the alleged lobbying, labeling and slandering that took place in the PAS election that concluded early this month.
