DAP and PAS in 'murder' blame game

Following the demise of Pakatan Rakyat, both DAP and PAS have resorted to accusing each other of being responsible for the "murder" of the coalition.

DAP national vice-chairperson Teresa Kok today lambasted PAS election director Mustafa Ali for saying that DAP was the one that chose to leave Pakatan.

"DAP did not make any decision to sever ties with PAS or PKR.

"It was the repeated violation of Pakatan’s Common Policy Framework and the consensus operational principle as well the PAS Muktamar decision to sever ties with DAP that killed off Pakatan," Kok said in a statement today.

As such, she said, Pakatan only existed in name for about a year and could not function as a coalition because PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang refused to abide by the coalition's decisions.

She also accused PAS of being in denial.

Meanwhile, Mustafa Ali ( photo ) likened the current situation in Pakatan to DAP's exit from Barisan Alternatif in 2001.

He insisted that Pakatan was still in existence and that the cooperation between PAS and PKR would continue.

“We (PAS) and PKR can still proceed. We are not quarrelling with PKR - only PAS and DAP (are quarrelling)," Mustafa is quoted as saying in Harakahdaily.

Ironically, DAP too has said it that will continue to cooperate with Pakatan but not with PAS, the leadership of which is now dominated by conservative hardliners.

Yesterday, Mustafa had said Pakatan wasn't "dead" but rather, it had "fainted".

However, Kok blasted Mustafa for the remark, stating that PAS was still in denial.
