Having obtained support from all Selangor PAS assemblypersons, Menteri Besar Azmin Ali will only need to meet DAP next week to establish that his state government is still intact.

Malaysiakini understands that Selangor Pakatan Rakyat more or less remains united following the 61st PAS muktamar decision which saw the infamous motion from the ulama wing to sever ties with DAP being passed without debate.

Asked about the development, Azmin's political secretary Shuhaimie Shafiei ( photo ) said the Menteri Besar's Office and Selangor PKR have met individual leaders and assemblypersons from all three parties to maintain the working relationship they had since 2008.

He said this to make sure that the Selangor government could deliver the goods promised to the people under ther common framework policy.

"We are not saying that we are mediators, it is other people who have said we have to act like it.

"The most suitable person to discuss the matter is PKR deputy president (Azmin).

"Discussion has been ongoing for a month, and we have weekly meetings with the assemblypersons.

"In the feedback we received from 60 to 70 percent of the assemblypersons who had met directly with either the MB, PKR leaders or myself, we are convinced that Pakatan (the state government) founded in 2008, will remain," he told reporters in Shah Alam today.

Azmin on Monday had an audience with Selangor ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, after which he said the sultan had emphasised on the need for stability.

'MB has no problem getting cooperation'

A day later, Azmin issued his guarantee that the Selangor government under him would continue to remain stable and that the state would continue to develop and fulfil its responsibilities to the people.

Shuhaimie insisted that despite speculation by the media, menteri besar had no problem in cooperating with the state executive councillors and assemblypersons in the administration of the state.

He said the Selangor Pakatan Rakyat-appointed working committee even had its regular meeting two days after the PAS muktamar.

The committee is the state-level Pakatan council that discusses, among other things, political appointments such as exco members and village heads.

Shuhaimie said the motion by PAS to sever its ties with DAP was not final, pending the decision of the Dewan Ulama, which has yet to hold its meeting.

"Pakatan can still be saved. Give us time," the Seri Setia assemblyperson said.

Shuhaimie also said that Azmin would host a buka puasa event on Sunday, along with leaders from PKR, DAP and PAS, as well as the state executive councillors and even village heads and mosque committee members.
