Prince’s lesson - don't judge a book by its cover

YOURSAY ‘Bear in mind, the woman in skirt is there to pay her bills or taxes.’

Prince weighs in on 'short skirt' saga

David Dass: Wise words of the mufti quoted by Tunku Idris Sultan Ibrahim of Johor. These words echo the words of the Selangor sultan on the critics of Farah Ann Abdul Hadi, the gymnast who won the nation a gold medal at the SEA Games.

What is going on in the country? Security guards making men and women wear sarongs and towels before they can enter government buildings.

Why does the government appear helpless in the face of this new force in Malaysian politics? Is the appearance of religiousity more important than actual good behaviour? Is the government actually going to interfere with what people wear?

Malaysians are actually quite conservative, and do not need tuition in what is or is not appropriate dress.

Ksn: Your Highness, kindly arrange to forward this quote from mufti Ismail Musa Menk to all government departments, both federal and states, to all muftis in all states and all religious authorities so that they can brief all concerned the true teachings of Islam and learn to respect all. Obviously many seem ignorant.

Swipenter: The problem starts with emphasis on form over substance. This is exactly what this reminder is all about. Likewise, don't judge a book by its cover.

FairMind: Cuepacs, take heart the wisdom of this knowledgeable prince. You are merely giving certificates of appreciation which are of no value to the guards while silent on the rampant bribe-taking in the civil service and the rampant leakages.

You should be giving the certificates of appreciation to those who offer honourable services and are honest.

Bear in mind, the woman in skirt is there to pay her bills or taxes, which goes to the nation's coffers. The civil service personnel with their corruption are even worst.

BTN: The royalty are wiser and make good leaders, unlike those in Umno who believe they are the master and we are their ‘hamba’ (slaves). I hear the statement from Selangor sultan and now this from the Johor prince.

Disgusted: Syabas, Tunku Idris, if you are the rulers of the future there is light at the end of the tunnel for our beloved country Malaysia.

Oh Ya?: Wow, it seems there is a competition among the royalty to please the rakyat. Are they trying to catch fish in murky waters during this time when Kangkong Land's politics are almost crippled?

SSDhaliwal: I totally agree these bigots who are holier than thou are usually spiritually bankrupt and have more form than substance. Hypocrites they are.

CQ Muar: Indeed, hypocrites they all are. In the words of Jesus to those men when a lowly chaste woman approached Him for protection: "He who sinneth not, let him be the first to cast a stone at me".

Anonymous_1372741039: Yes, what a bunch of hypocrites. I am a sinner and not proud of it but, a hypocrite I am not.

Rashid Aldin: If your mind is pure then everything is pure. Some religious leaders may look pure physically but are darn dirty in the mind.

Fair&Just: Yesterday, my client was barred from going into court as her skirt was one or two inches higher than her knee. Things are getting intense.

My advice is that all must follow the dress code in government buildings to prevent any delay of getting their services.

Maleficent: This is purely a simple case of a "dress code". It has nothing to do with religion. If one can’t adhere to the code, then go home and change. It's your fault for failing to understand what a "dress code" is. Don't blame others.

Anonymous_1421406986: These are definitely the words of a mufti who has imbibed the teachings and instructions of God, and practices them by way of thoughts, words and actions. God's words have absorbed into his genes.

A man seeking the company of God will spend his lifetime identifying weaknesses within himself that defile his soul, that distance him from God than to focus on other people's weaknesses.

Most have forgotten that our original ancestors (Adam and Eve) lived in total nakedness. God did not punish them, for that is the way He creates us. Any form of dressing only happened to keep ourselves warm.

A Good Prophet once said, "Pull your eyes out if it commits a thought of sin". Our mufti, probably the only one in the world, has even time to think about copulating on a desert animal.

That is the sad case of our teachers of religion, and we have such small minds in every religion. Praise to the parents of the Johor prince for having such an enlightened son, and may he live long and healthy.

Samah: Don't fault the security guards. They just follow instructions. So far the media have not focused on the source of these shenanigans. Even DAP's fort, Penang is not spared.

Hplooi: While I would not normally support a royal weighing in on political issues, the appearance of a royal in concordance with the people (or at least 60 percent of the citizens) is so rare that perhaps people should be forgiven for being royalist now?
