Johor Crown Prince Tunku Ismail Ibrahim said being corrupt in this country bear no consequences if you're a member of certain organisations.

Without referring to anything in particular, the prince lamented that he is fighting for an independent body for referees in Malaysian football.

"Corruption is a serious crime. Do you know what is the punishment for committing it? Nothing...if you are a member of certain organisations.

"As always, I'm the only one voicing out the need to have an independent body for our referees so they will be free from any conflicts of interest," he wrote in the Johor Southern Tigers Facebook page this morning.

While he might be talking about football, readers are associating it with the current political climate where Prime Minister Najib Razak ( photo ) has come under heavy fire and accusations of corruption in relation to controversies relating to 1MDB.

The outspoken prince had also tangled with Minister Nazri Aziz for his critical comments on Najib a month ago.

This time, the Johor FA chairman touches emotions by saying he would prefer to fail with honour than to win by cheating.

"Being corrupted is a very bad trait. Being silent and doing nothing about it, however, is even worse," he added.
