Thai police have refused to share with Malaysian diplomats information on their investigation into former PetroSaudi International director Xavier Andre Justo.

According to  Associated Press , Thailand national police chief Somyot Poompunmuang conveyed this a delegation of Malaysian diplomats after meeting them yesterday.

Police spokesperson Prawut Thawornsiri reportedly said that the Malaysian delegation was asked to make a formal request with the Thai foreign ministry if they wanted information.

We have told them we can't share such data because it is part of our ongoing investigation.

"But if they really want it, they should use diplomatic channels by approaching our Ministry of Foreign Affairs," he was quoted as saying.

Justo ( photo ) is accused of blackmailing PetroSaudi of 2.5 million Swiss francs in exchange for not releasing information he purportedly stole from the company.

Later, Justo allegedly sold the information to third parties after failing to strike a deal with PetroSaudi.

This had put 1MDB in a spot as it included e-mail correspondence between PetroSaudi and 1MDB.

The information in the e-mails was among the material used by whistleblower website Sarawak Report to allege that 1MDB funds intended for a joint venture with PetroSaudi was siphoned to a company controlled by billionaire Jho Low, who is close to Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's family.
