Asked whether the tampering was extensive, Thai police spokesperson major-general Prawut Tavornsiri told Malaysiakini : "The changes are small, but important".
He said Thai police had made this deduction after interviewing Justo, who insisted to them that only the original documents from PSI were passed on to others.
Prawut said he was unable to provide further details on the tampering allegation as the matter was still under investigations.
Justo has been held by the Thai police since June 22 on grounds that he attempted to blackmail his former employer for 2.5 million Swiss Francs to ensure the documents were not leaked.
The matter is of interest to Malaysia because state-owned 1MDB had in 2009 invested US$1 billion in a joint-venture with PSI.
The deal was fraught with controversy. Two 1MDB directors had quit because US$700 million meant for the JV was diverted to another company. The JV was also was called off in just six-months.

Moreover, 1MDB had decided to loan US$1.9 billion to PSI after the failed JV. Putrajaya claimed that a loan was better than holding equity, because it reduces risk.
Whistleblower website Sarawak Report had written extensively about this JV and alleged that the US$700 million was diverted to a company controlled by Jho Low, a known associate of Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.
However, Malaysian authorities claim that Sarawak Report had relied on tampered documents supplied by Justo to discredit Najib.
Recently, the Thai police claimed that Justo had admitted to meeting at least 10 individuals in Singapore. Among them were prospective buyers of PSI documents, which includes an Umno figure and Malaysian opposition figures.
Prawut said that the bid for Justo's wares went up to US$2 million .
"Inside the contract, it said two million, in US dollars," he told Malaysiakini .
However, he said Thai police have yet to establish if a transaction actually took place.
