Petaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Pua said his passport records disproved claims that he had met former PetroSaudi International Ltd (PSI) executive Xavier Andre Justo.

Pua said that the only stamp which showed him entering Singapore was on March 19 this year, well after whistleblower website Sarawak Report had published leaked documents regarding PSI's deal with 1MDB on March 1.

"Conveniently, I have my passport with me now," said Pua during a press conference today on his travel ban imposed by Putrajaya.

BN leaders have been pointing fingers at Pua following claims by the Thai police that Justo had met opposition figures, a person from Umno and a media tycoon in Singapore.

The accusations against Pua were intensified after Lester Melanyi, a former journalist who claimed to have worked with Sarawak Report's editor Clare Rewcastle-Brown, accused him of tampering documents to smear 1MDB and Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.

Heavy penalty

Pua has threatened to sue Lester if he did not retract this claim by July 27. The threat is unlikely to have any effect because Lester has been bankrupt since June 2012.

He also denied ever having met Lester.

Apart from Pua, Lester had also accused Pandan MP Rafizi Ramli of being part of the conspiracy to forge documents.

After Lester was questioned by the police, Pua, Rafizi and The Edge Media Group's owner Tong Kooi Ong have been slapped with a travel ban .

Pua only found out about the ban when he attempted to leave for Jogjakarta on business this afternoon.

According to inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar, the trio are being investigated under Section 124 of the Penal Code for indulging in activities detrimental to Parliamentary democracy.

If found guilty, they can be jailed for up to 20 years.
