The public should judge the integrity of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) by looking at it as one entity and not its individual members, PAC chairperson Nur Jazlan Mohamad says.

"The integrity of the members of the PAC is not on an individual basis but as a collective.
"The test of our integrity is whether the majority of people believe our report.
"If the decision is a consensus, then the report will be believable and the integrity of its members is high.
"But if the report is decided by vote or division, then the report is less believable and the integrity of the members is in question," he said via WhatsApp yesterday.
Nur Jazlan said this when asked to elaborate on his remarks in the BN Backbenchers’ Club (BNBBC) website, in which he said the integrity of committee member Tony Pua will be judged after the PAC report on 1MDB is out.
"As the chairperson, it is not good for me to comment on the PAC's integrity. But the PAC will come out with a report soon and it is up to people whether to believe us or not.
"At that time, the integrity of the PAC's members will be judged," the BNBBC website quotes him as saying.
'PAC a good team'
BN leaders have been questioning Pua's integrity as a PAC member after former journalist Lester Melanyi accused the Petaling Jaya Utara MP of being part of a plot to fabricate 1MDB documents.
BNBBC chief Shahrir Abdul Samad is among those who want Pua to step down from the committee probing the scandal surrounding Prime Minister Najib Razak’s pet project 1MDB.
Nur Jazlan had previously defended Pua from attacks by Umno-linked lawyer Muhammad Abdullah, who questioned if the DAP lawmaker could be fair in the 1MDB probe.
"I personally think he has helped to highlight the issue on 1MDB, which the majority of Malaysians today believe PAC will dismiss the issue in favour of the government.
"We are working well as a team," Nur Jazlan had said in response.
