Yayasan Patriot Negara Malaysia (YPN) deputy chairperson Nadzim Johan said that they want to invite the three DAP lawmakers who have criticised their Patriot car number plate auction to a live dialogue on television next week to understand each other better.

"We want to try to exchange ideas, to know why are they so unhappy?" Nadzim said in a press conference in Kuala Lumpur today.

The dialogues will be split into three one-hour panel discussions with one of the DAP lawmakers each time.

The three invited are Tanjong MP Ng Wei Aik, Taiping MP Nga Kor Ming and Kluang MP Liew Chin Tong.

"Let's not create politics of hate. Why do we need to fight?

"With a dialogue, only then can we solve any problems. If we deny we have a problem, it will only get worse," Nadzim ( photo ) said, explaining YPN's decision to hold the dialogues.

"We have invited them. It's up to them whether they want to accept or not," he added.

'Collection is so bad'

Last Friday YPN auctioned off the 'Patriot 1' car number plate for a record RM1.308 million, making it the most expensive number plate in the country.

They said the proceeds would be used to promote "patriotism".

The three DAP lawmakers had slammed the auction, with Ng ( photo ) lodging a report with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.

The obscure NGO had also auctioned off other vanity number plates with 'Patriot' on it, though they secured much lower bids of around a few thousand.

They had been targeting a profit between RM10 million to RM15 million from the auction, though Nadzim declined to reveal how much they had earned.

"What I can tell you, collection is so bad. We should have done a lot better.

"When your reputation has been tarnished, people would be hesitant to pay you," he added.
