Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak has asked the 1,200 haj pilgrims sponsored by Yayasan 1MDB to pray for the country's well-being and his administration in Mecca.

He also called on them to pray that no foreign elements would attempt to topple the government.

"Please pray. You are going to a place where your prayers would be answered (fulfilled).

"Insya'allah (God willing) at Masjidil Haram (Mecca), Madinah and also on the field of Arafah.

"Please pray the country is safe, pray for the leaders, where the people would determine who would be in government and who would fall, not outsiders or foreigners," he said.

Najib said this in his speech at a function for the haj pilgrims at the Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin mosque in Putrajaya.
