PM wants new cabinet to work together as a family

Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak said today he wants his new cabinet to work together as a family unit and the ministers to have trust in each other.

Such a spirit was important to ensure the well-being of the people and country, he said.

“My new cabinet colleagues and I are determined to do our best to help achieve the people’s aspirations and implement national policies,” he said speaking at the Aidilfitri reception of the Prime Minister’s Department in Putrajaya.

Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, other cabinet ministers, deputy ministers and chief secretary to the government Ali Hamsa also attended the event.

Najib, who is also the finance minister, urged civil servants to always make changes and step up performance for the sake of the people and country.

“This is what I want to see in the government and administration so that we can show not only transformation but an improvement in the government programmes and services for the people.

“This is what we must keep in mind and, in this way, we hope that as a government we can show more positive transformation,” he said.

The prime minister reminded civil servants not to lose focus and to give preference to the government transformation policy for the sake of the people and country.

Soon after his arrival at the event, Najib spent some time visiting the 13 food stalls and talking to the JPM staff.

JPM resident artistes as well as guest artistes performed at the event, which was held at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre.

Najib also handed out ‘duit raya’ cash gift packets to 15 orphaned children of JPM staff and a RM15,000 contribution from the Federal Territory Islamic Affairs Department to welfare homes.
