PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang has blamed "untrustworthy" leaders for the country's woes.
Abdul Hadi pointed out that the country has been hit by scandal after scandal but did not go into specifics.
However, he brought up the dropping of Muhyiddin Yassin ( photo ) as deputy prime minister in apparent reference to the latest controversy, where RM2.6 billion was deposited into Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's personal bank accounts.
"Sacking (sic) the deputy prime minister did not resolve the problems. What went wrong?
"It is leaders who do not fulfill the trust given to them; do not understand the meaning of trust.
"There have been many scandals that we have forgotten. Now is 1MDB, before that EPF, Tabung Haji and many more, all in the billions," he was quoted as saying by Sinar Harian .
He added that governments, including BN, will not stay in power forever.
"BN will not last - all governments will not last. The governments in Indonesia, Japan, India and the US too, all have changed.
"We want a change to a government that is trustworthy and good through Islam," he said.
The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) had stated the RM2.6 billion was not from state-owned 1MDB but its investigation is still ongoing.
Despite the controversy, Abdul Hadi had previously said that he disagreed for Najib to resign.
He had said that Najib should be allowed to serve his full term, after which the rakyat can punish him in the general election.
