Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak has received unanimous support from all 12 BN component parties, according to Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) president James Masing.

Masing was among those who attended a meeting between Najib, who is also BN chairperson, and component leaders at the Prime Minister’s Department in Putrajaya.

"All party presidents assured (our support for him) as prime minister," said the Sarawak minister.

"We told him that we have full confidence in his leadership," he added.

According to Masing, the leaders did not raise 1MDB or the RM2.6 billion "political donation" deposited into Najib's private accounts.

Responding to a question, he also clarified that none of the leaders called on Najib to resign.

State election meet

When asked the significance about today's meeting after he said no controversial issues were discussed, he said it was just a routine meeting.

"This is just a normal meeting that we have all the time. We have the meeting every month," said Masing, who is also Sarawak senior minister.

Speculation was rife that Najib ( photo ) and the BN leaders would discuss the 1MDB affair and also the issue of political funding and donations at today's meeting.

According to Masing, Najib directed BN parties to work on strengthening their support base.

"He wanted us to make sure the parties are strong; he told us what to do," said Masing.

He also said Najib may meet the Sarawak BN leaders again in matters related to state election.

"We may have another meeting with him," he said, adding Sarawak BN was ready for the next election, he said.

BN won 56 out of Sarawak's 71 seats in the 2011 state election.
