Federal minister Abdul Rahman Dahlan today admitted that alleged efforts to topple the government is directed at the cabinet of which he is a member and not the BN.

Abdul Rahman said if Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's government is toppled, then members of his cabinet must also step down but BN will still remain in power.

He was referring to allegations against Najib ( photo ) including the RM2.6 billion deposited into the premier's personal bank accounts.

"If you have the prime minister step down for an allegation of that sort, then the entire cabinet might have to be replaced for whatever reason.

"The new prime minister would have his own cabinet. But the Barisan government would definitely not collapse.

"When I say the government, I am talking about the cabinet.

"It’s not to topple the BN government," Abdul Rahman was quoted as saying in an interview with The Star Online .

'Not above law'

Abdul Rahman stressed that both loyalty to the the party and leader was important.

"You have to be loyal to the country and to the nation and at the same time you have to loyal to the leader.

"Of course there is a disclaimer. If the leader is up to no good and the allegation is true that he stole money – whatever the amount – then I think he is not above the law.

"Not just the prime minister but anyone. But there must be some amount of loyalty that we must accord to their leaders," he said.

Abdul Rahman stressed that there was no evidence of wrongdoing against Najib to date and most allegations was mere "speculation".
