YOURSAY ‘I am ashamed that I have a PM who knows no shame.’

PM: More money for BN MPs next year

Speaking Sense: In the midst of money politics and suspicious political ‘donations’, and at a time when the currency is spiraling downwards and when the people are struggling with inflation, the priority of PM Najib Razak is to proudly announce that more money from public funds will be given to government MPs for crony projects.

Does it mean those who are represented by opposition MPs (who get no public funds) are not equal citizens in this country?

Slumdog: I do not recall any of the 134 government MPs asking Najib for additional allocation. So out of the blue, Najib in his usual magnanimous display of generosity decides to increase the allocation of BN MPs.

Here is Najib again doing something that he is very good at - shoring up his support by throwing money their way as an inducement to buy their loyalty.

There is now no chance that a no confidence vote against Najib will even be raised in Parliament, let alone succeed.

Basically: If you want proof of abuse of power, here it is right before your eyes. Why should PM only give to BN MPs? It's taxpayers’ money, not Umno's.

If Umno has such huge donations from wealthy Arabs, give that to your MPs. All MPs should be getting the same allowance.

If the case was reversed, Umno would be crying foul at the opposition for giving them less.

Anonymous_1430366487: How much more blatant 'corruption' can the Malaysian public take? Isn't what the PM said a cue for the rest of his Umno-BN cronies to multiply such corruption?

Does the auditor-general check these MPs’ accounts of the disposed funds? Maybe even Zimbabwe has better a government than us.

If Malaysians can stomach this, then they can stomach an episode worse than Greece, and Asean is not going to help us.

Anonymous 1689721435778173: Indeed, why allocation only to BN MPs? It is taxpayers money, not Umno-BN’s.

Is this a bribe so that BN MPs do not take part in a vote of no confidence should it arise?

Vijay47: The poor man just cannot avoid this. Paying for support is so entrenched in Umno and BN that even in such trying times as these, he continues what they are famous for.

You can take the guy out of the kampung but you cannot take the donations out of him.

Hang Babeuf: More "shoring up" of Najib's tenuous position. More inducements and bribery. No wonder the PM sees RM2.6 billion as just a modest amount, "small change".

What people want is not lots of more "small change" like this for BN MPs but a Big Change in national politics. Starting with political financing and political morality.

What is it with this man? This ethically limited man. This man of such totally impoverished ethical imagination. He simply cannot help himself or stop himself.

He just goes on as before. He cannot see or acknowledge his own mistakes, his own human and political shortcomings, his moral failings.

All he can do, in the face of serious and continuing criticism, is to repeat his grotesque follies. Not so much defiantly as compulsively. He knows nothing else, no other way.

There is no alternative to the one benighted way that he knows and has always followed. He can only repeat and go on repeating.

His behaviour is a form of pathology. A personality dysfunction. One involving total moral insensitivity and obtuseness. It is a very sick syndrome that he displays. At huge cost to the nation. Not just material but moral.

Kingfisher: If this man continues without containment with his lofty style of money in politics even audaciously calling on his party and its leaders/members to defend him against allegation of financial impropriety, then he would set a very unfortunate precedent for open abuse of the democratic electoral system.

WangMalaysia: I am ashamed that I have a PM who knows no shame.

Jaded: Wow, I love the logic. First you are not voted by the majority. Yet the majority won't benefit from these funds.

Now you are increasing the funds to placate the bloated cabinet from money that came from the Goods and Services Tax (GST) and other taxes. And poor people continue to suffer.

Anonymous 731691434514996: Change the narrative. It is not about saving Umno. It is about saving Malaysia. It is not about getting rid of Najib. It is about getting rid of Umno. Once Umno falls, BN will too.

Change the narrative. It is not about RM2.6 billion that has been stolen. It is about the future of Malaysia that has been stolen. It is Umno stealing the wealth of the nation over the past 40 year.

Change the narrative. It is not about replacing Najib with yet another psychopath from the same cesspool. It is about replacing Umno with a Harapan Rakyat that will turn Malaysia around and save us all from total annihilation.
