The iconic Volkswagen Beetle which was used to promote the upcoming Bersih 4 rally was found to have been splashed with acid this morning.
It was also sprayed with red paint, according to Bersih officer Mandeep Singh.
"The Bersih 4 Classic Volkswagen Beetle was splashed with acid, sprayed with paint and damaged," he decried in a Facebook posting.
Mandeep added that he and Bersih steering committee members Wong Chin Huat and Thomas Fann were to travel in the vehicle this morning to promote the Bersih 4 rally.
The bright-yellow Beetle carrying Bersih 4's logo had gained much attention in social media as it made rounds in Johor, encouraging people to participate in the upcoming rally on Aug 29 and 30.
The vehicle was vandalised when it was parked at Taman Molek, Johor.
According to photographs uploaded by Mandeep, one side of the vehicle was sprayed with expletives in red.
Some parts of the vehicle also had charred marks, which appeared to be burns from acid.
