Taiwan has been urged to locate Malaysian businessman Jho Low, who is wanted for questioning by the MACC and is reportedly residing there.

This demand was made to the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office today by Segambut MP Lim Lip Eng. Malaysia does not have official diplomatic relations with Taiwan.

"I wrote a letter to seek the assistance of the Taiwanese authorities regarding Low," Lim said when met after submitting the letter.

Lim's assumption that Low is now in Taiwan was based on a report by whistleblower website Sarawak Report . The website also claimed that Low possesses two passports.

"As I told the Taiwanese officer, if Sarawak Report is not 100 percent accurate, the information is still close to accurate," said Lim.

He pleaded with the Taiwan authorities to share information on Low with Putrajaya.

Lim also urged Malaysian students and visitors in Taiwan to help locate Low.

Asked about the response from the Taiwan officers, Lim said they did not promise to search for Low. They only acknowledged his letter.

Taipei Economic and Cultural Office Senior Adviser Benjamin Liu, when met by reporters later, opted to keep mum on the matter.

"No comment," Liu repeatedly said.

Jho Low is wanted for questioning by the MACC in connection with investigations on SRC International Sdn Bhd's RM4 billion loan from the Retirement Fund Incorporated.

Also being sought are SRC International managing director Nik Faisal Alif Kamil and director Suboh Mohd Yassin.

Some media reports suggest that Low's spokesperson had indicated his willingness to assist in the MACC investigations.

SRC International was once a subsidiary of 1MDB and but was transferred to the direct control of the Finance Ministry in 2012.
