No 'bangsat' Malays in opposition-ruled states, PM told
An Umno activist has castigated Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak for claiming that the Malays will become 'bangsat' or bastardised if Umno loses power.
Shahbudin Husin pointed out that such a fate has not befell the Malays in the PAS-controlled state of Kelatan and the opposition-ruled states of Selangor and Penang.
"Moreover, a lot of Malays (in these three states) are happier, have a better appetite and laugh more compared to those living in states controlled by Umno.
"They don't look like Malays who are 'bangsat' or marginalised," he said in a blog post.
Shahbudin claimed that it is Umno which has "bastardised" the Malays more compared to other parties.
"Through the power they possess, who actually betrayed land, shares, permits and so forth which were supposed to strengthen Malay economy but were diverted for personal interests or sold to other races?" he asked.
Under the leadership of Najib, Shahbudin said Umno is not only heading towards the dark ages, but the people are facing increased pressure due to the eradication of subsidies, GST and hike in the cost of living.
"The 1MDB issue and RM2.6 billion donation has turned the country and its leadership into an international butt of jokes.
"Is it not embarrassing to be proud of the donation and then market it as a fund to safe the race?" he added.
The fact is, according to Shahbudin, it is Najib who brought about the 'bastardisation' of the Malays.
"The country and Umno can be healed if he is no longer the head.
"It is not Umno losing power which determines whether the Malays are 'bastardised' or otherwise, but the type of leaders," he said.
Najib, who is also Umno president, had mentioned this during his speech at the Kangar Umno division annual general meeting yesterday.
