After a standoff outside Parliament, police arrested 16 students -13 men and three women - and took them to the Jinjang police station.


 Soon after they were arrested at about 10.30pm, another activist was nabbed for taking photos of the items being confiscated.


 Some police officers tried to stop journalists from snapping pictures of this second arrest.


 The activist was seen bleeding on his leg.


 Earlier, a group of 30 policemen, clad in vests, told the students camping in front of Parliament since yesterday to leave.


 Armed with cable ties, they told the group of about 20 students to leave or face arrest.


 Sentul OCPD R Munusamy said they have already given the students more than 24 hours to camp there and what the students were doing could be an offence under 124B of the Penal Code.


 "Forcing someone to resign through street demonstration is illegal," Munusamy announced.


 However, #Langkahsiswa spokesperson Khairul Najib said they would remain there.

 Before the standoff, the students gave Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak another 24 hours to discuss with them about the current issues confronting the nation.

 that a press conference would be held at midnight tomorrow if the ruling government still paid no attention to them.


 "We give the government another 24 hours to respond to our calls for him (Najib) to resign over his role in 1MDB and the RM2.6 billion donations. He needs to seriously pay attention to the voice of the students and our demands," Khairul said.
