"Wives of leaders and their husbands jointly have the responsibility to ensure the peace and unity of our country which will eventually be inherited by our future generations.
"We should never allow anyone to play up racial and religious issues or to spread lies and hatred to destroy the country's unity," she was quoted as saying by The Star.
The wife of Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak was speaking opening of the BN Wives of Elected Representatives (Bakti) annual programme in Ipoh yesterday.
Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who launched the event, praised Bakti for organising the programme.
Since her husband took over the leadership reins in 2009, Rosmah has been a magnet for controversies and allegations.
She is also a frequent target of the opposition and often the subject of lampoon on social media.
