MCA may be sink under the weight of 1MDB and the RM2.6 billion political donation issue, warned former MCA deputy publicity chief Marco Yap.
In his latest Facebook posting, Yap said MCA cannot become popular with the people by securing more government positions.
"When facing an issue of right or wrong, we must have a clear stand,” he added.
Yap said the existence of MCA is not to secure government positions, but to work for Malaysians and the Chinese community.
The Tawau MCA division chief yesterday resigned from his deputy publicity chief post.
Following his announcement , Yap ( photo ) said he felt hurt when members of the same team are on different paths, with some moving further from the MCA leadership but getting closer to the people.
"Chai (Kim Sen, publicity chief), sorry for not agreeing with your game rules, because I have my own principles.
"To prevent any awkward situation, I hereby tender my resignation," Yap had said.
There are reports of MCA grassroots leaders being unhappy with president Liow Tiong Lai for being too soft in voicing out on behalf of the Chinese community.
These grassroots leaders are contemplating pressuring Liow to voice their grouses to Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak, in order to defend the party's image.
