Former international trade and industry minister Rafidah Aziz has told the authorities to stop wasting time grilling people who turned up at the Bersih 4 rally.

Instead, Rafidah said, they should focus on resolving the issues that made the people protest in the first place.

"Please don't waste time and effort questioning why so and so was at the demonstration. If the authorities don't know why, then there's something wrong with them!

"Focus on understanding why the people demonstrated... Focus on getting to the root of each issue and resolve them as provided for by the laws of the land," Rafidah said in a Facebook posting today.

Among those who are currently being probed for turning up at Bersih is the Iron Lady's ex-boss, former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

Mahathir is being investigated for criminal defamation for a speech he made at the rally.

Question all prominent figures

Besides Mahathir ( photo ), inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar said cops will also question all prominent figures who turned up at the rally.

Police are also scanning through photos and videos of the two-day protest to determine who else they need to call up for questioning.

The Bersih 4 rally was called after the the RM2.6 billion political donation Najib received cast doubt on the legitimacy of the 13th general elections.

Up to 100,000 people had joined the two-day rally, calling for clean and fair elections and for Najib to quit office.
