Let all 100,000 Bersih protesters surrender themselves

YOURSAY ‘Why are rally leaders the ones to have the honour to be charged?’

Bersih chief, MP and two others to be charged

Clearwater: There were many tens of thousands of rally goers on Aug 29 and 30 around Dataran Merdeka, the majority wearing the signature yellow Bersih 4 T-shirt, waiting to be 'arrested' for participating in an 'illegal' rally and wearing an 'illegal' garment. None were.

Why are the rally leaders the ones to have the honour to be charged, and only post-rally at that? What kind of law enforcement is this?

Sabahan: The Bersih 4 rally has many firsts. Thirty four hours of demonstration, practically no violence despite a turnout of 100,000 citizens, no arrests by the police, simultaneous rallies in so many other countries, a clean-up by the rally organisers after the rally, and the Negaraku was never sung by so many citizens together.

I am sure many democratic countries are amazed by this rally. This is despite threats by the home minister, police and the military.

Now after the rally, the Umno-BN government being small-minded, is still threatening those who participated in the rally.

At the same time the International Anti-Corruption Conference (IACC) held in Putrajaya is an embarrassment to the prime minister. How low and shameless can the Umno-BN government sink.

Tok Karut: Suhakam chairperson Hasmy Agam must send a protest note to the PDRM (Royal Malaysian Police) and Home Minister Ahmad Zahid 'Komedi' Hamidi.

The magistrate has also to be alerted to the decision in the Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad Peaceful Assembly Act case.

Jaguh: How petty can PM Najib Razak be? Never has there been a world leader who is so vindictive and scared of the rakyat like the one we have herel

Look at Guatemala, even a Third World country has more democracy than our so-called First World one. World class, my foot.

Res Ipsa: Nothing is ever done about the elephant in the room, and they always focus on trivial issues. What a good start for the new attorney-general (AG).

Anonymous_40f4: This kind of police action, against those who stand up for justice and fair play and against corruption, always happens in a police state or failed state. Najib and BN are hiding behind the police to bully the rakyat.

Kawak: The police have one law for Umno leaders, members and their NGOs and another for opposition leaders, members, supporters and their activists.

They are investigating the RM2.6 million donation to Bersih but did not lift a finger on Najib's donation of RM2.6 billion from an Arab donor.

Gaji Buta: And whatever happened to those who had demonstrated in front of Low Yat Plaza, and issued threats of violence?

JD Lovrenciear: Will all right-thinking Malaysians and leaders (current and past) sit back and let this atrocious act of punishing patriots also let it be?

TC Chan: The rally was deemed illegal by the police, so it needs to take action against all participants. To charge some only is selective prosecution.

I have a suggestion - all 100,000 participants should all surrender themselves to the police station at a given time and place, with the Bar Council helping to provide lawyers. Then all should claim trial.

Bukit Aman queries Pua under 124B over 1MDB

Negarawan: Instead of investigating the main culprits behind 1MDB, the police are going after the whistleblowers.

It is time for the chief police to be charged for dereliction of duty and abuse of power. The inspector-general of police (IGP) is not above the law.

Hope: What is the connection between Section 124B and 1MBD? No wonder Najib got "goreng" by the IACC delegates. I guess what former PM Dr Mahathir Mohamad said is true, we are going to be a failed state.

Fair&Just: They can curb the freedom of members of parliament just like that, and no reason need to be given. What democracy is this? They think they are very powerful, and above God.

Legit: As all the delegates had gathered in Putrajaya for the IACC, this act is confirming that Malaysia has become a pariah nation.

Meanwhile the biggest culprit is hiding in his hole like a worm and will only appear once all the delegates leave. Shameful.

James_3392: The police should have asked more relevant questions, like where did a certain person get the money to buy Birkin handbags.
