The only way to restore public trust and respect to the Royal Malaysian Police force is to set up an independent body to appoint the inspector-general police (IGP), Najib Abdul Rahman said.

Speaking to Malaysiakini in an exclusive interview, Najib, a veteran journalist who is the son of former IGP Abdul Rahman Hashim, also wishes to see the 'men in blue' to be well respected in the eyes of the public.
