Danger in Sept 16 rally's lack of leadership and goals

YOURSAY Things can well get out of hand with so little clarity on organisation and direction for red shirt rally.

Jamal: Only one Sept 16 rally, we'll follow silat group

Onyourtoes: What is this - some red shirts, some black shirts; some say it’s to protest against ‘kurang ajar’ Chinese, some say Chinese and Indians are welcome; some say the rally is illegal, some say they don’t care; some say permit not given, some say no permit necessary.

I think there is evil in all this. If trouble happens, no one will accept responsibility.

Voice: Maybe, Pesaka's president Mohd Ali Rustam should clarify in more detail how, or in what way, the Bersih 4 protesters had insulted the Malay community.

Free and Fair Election: No organiser, no leadership, no purpose. Just gather at Padang Merbuk – ‘macam hantu mabuk’ (like drunken ghosts).

Clever voter: The justification for their proposed action is so ridiculous and puts the Malay community into shame. Thank goodness the support is marginal.

Not Confused: The two groups seem to be like two headless chickens squabbling. I await with interest to see the "million" Malays that they claim will attend the red rally. All very funny, really.

RM2.6BILLION DUIT HARAM: When Bersih 4 planned its peaceful demonstration, it was accused of being disrespectful to Merdeka and not appreciating the sacrifices of our armed forces and police.

Now, the red shirt march is scheduled for Sept 16. Why has no minister questioned their disrespect for Malaysia Day and our Armed Forces?

In fact, some of our Armed Forces personnel laid down their lives in defence of Malaysia during the Confrontation against Indonesia. In this case, there is an utter disrespect for the sacrifices of our Armed Forces if this march goes on.

Nobrain: This red shirt rally can only be construed as anti-Malaysia because it is held on Malaysia Day - an important day for Sarawak and Sabah.

Wg321: Mark my words. Former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad will attend the red shirt rally. He will turn this anti-Chinese rally into an anti-Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak rally. I still remember the first sentence he uttered on the steps of Pasar Seni on the second day of the Bersih Rally.

In front of a large group of photographers from the press and noisy Bersih supporters, he said he wanted to make "a statement". His statement was an anti-Najib one which lasted about 20 minutes.

Later he adjourned to a nearby restaurant and spoke a further 40 minutes against Najib, and gave interviews with local and foreign press. He urged the Bersih supporters and the rakyat to topple Najib.

He will say the same things again if he were to attend the red shirt rally. He is going to attract a lot of publicity, especially from the world press like CNA, Al Jazeera, Reuters , BBC, CNN, etc.

At the same time, he can re-connect with Umno grassroots and expose Najib's scandals. Mahathir should not miss this golden opportunity. If the police stop Mahathir from attending this rally, he will attract even more publicity.

Anonymous #07443216: Spokesperson for the 'red shirt' rally, Jamal Md Yunos: it looks like your plan is punctured before you can even start. Malaysia is now in the Internet era, not like the old shortwave and medium wave radio era, so your evil plans have no influence on the new generation as they can see your mischievous agenda.

Voice: Maybe, Pesaka's Ali should clarify in more detail how, or in what way, the Bersih 4 protesters had insulted the Malay community.

Boiling Mud: No, don't try to chicken out. Make sure the rally is on. There will be a ready crowd of Umno members for Mahathir to push his agenda. He can surely take on the huge crowd singlehandedly and convince them to use their brains and support his call to get rid of their 48 percent PM. The thought of Mahathir addressing the red shirt crowd is hilarious.

Justine Gow: It doesn't matter whether it is Padang Merbok or Bukit Bintang. So long as the rally is held, Mahathir is likely to be there to push his agenda of getting rid of someone who is ruining this country. Be ready for that.

Wira: I think the organiser is likely to be embarrassed if he gets only one or two thousand participants. You see, organising a group of 40,000 participants for an Umno related programme means having to spend, at RM300 each for pocket money, a minimum of RM12 million, not including the arrangement of having to bus at least 30 thousand of those followers from as far as Pekan in Pahang.

Who is going to foot that bill and for what purpose? To support a corrupt leader and flash the middle finger at Dr M, who showed up twice at the Bersih rally to be with the rakyat?

Roger 5201: Jamal is just making it up as he is goes along…

Anonymous_1377321471: Respect has to be earned. You are damaging the good values of traditional good Malays and Muslims. You should watch more P Ramlee movies.

Honesty and integrity were the orders of the day. P Ramlee was a hero, catching the crooks and helping ordinary people. P Ramlee did not ask to be liked but is still liked by all races until today.

Ib: ‘Laughing stock’ is what comes to mind. Wish they would shut up as they are an embarrassment to themselves, their parties or organisations, their community and the country.

Anonymous$&@?: These NGOs not ‘malu’ (ashamed)? Simple gathering, but so many twists and turns.

Tell the Truth: This bunch has no reason to rally except to use it as an excuse to make money from selling T-shirts and getting a cut from the money to be given to those attending as pocket money.

Am told each gets RM300-500. Guess how much goes into the organiser’s pocket?

What is their beef? Because a couple of nutheads stomped on the faces of PAS chief Abdul Hadi Awang and Najib? Therefore Malay pride is hurt?

What about the times when they pissed upon Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng’s poster or the latest when they poured red paint over Bersih chief Maria Chin Abdullah’s picture?

You don't have a cause, period. You want to show off your ‘kekuatan’. But if you are anti-Bersih it means your are pro-corruption. Bersih was represented by Malaysians for a good cause. You have zero cause.

Beeep!: Jamal must be fuming inside. Someone is reining him in - perhaps good sense will prevail with all the calls from Otai, etc. Will the padang be enough to restore Malay dignity for these fellas?
