YOURSAY ‘You and Gerakan couldn’t influence the PM to stop the red shirt rally.’

Liow: Umno ‘hawks’ stirring trouble

Tholu: This is interesting. MCA chief Liow Tiong Lai had reportedly told the PM on the need to uphold moderation and pluralism.

Now what does this tell us about PM Najib Razak and his posture on issues of peace and security of a nation comprising of a multitude of races and religion? Isn’t he the one who talked about initiating a Global Movement of Moderates at the United Nations?

Why does he then need to be reminded that he has to practice what he preaches in his own backyard by a member of his own government? Doesn’t this prove that he is a nauseating, stinking hypocrite?

While trying to portray an image of a moderate leader in the eyes of the world, he in reality encourages and promotes racism and extremism in his very own country.

There will be no peace and harmony in our country until Najib is replaced. He instead, as proven by himself, will only further help to stoke racial and religious tensions and lead this country to anarchism and lawlessness so that he can remain in power forever.

Liow, don’t try to justify the need for you to remain in the corrupt and abusive government by saying that you (MCA) will act as a balancing force. What balancing force?

You and Gerakan couldn’t influence the PM to stop the red shirt rally or at least request him to not allow Umno members to attend it and you shamelessly tell us you need to be in the government to check and balance its actions?

Only after the rally, you people want to raise your objections and even make police reports. We do not need leaders who speak out only after the damage is done. We want leaders who are strong, firm and resolute in fighting for our rights - not selfish and servile leaders who are only more concerned of securing their position in government.

Anyway, if you are truly concerned about the welfare of the non-Malays, don’t worry. We have other more vocal political parties such as the DAP (which incidentally have more parliamentary seats than you) and PKR.

Oh Ya?: Liow, are the Umno hawks include the PM and DPM who had given green light to the red shirt rally on the most flimsy and ridiculous grounds of "restoring Malay dignity" just because of an isolated incident of the stomping two disgraced politicians' pictures?

And they gave their approval despite the burning of the Lim effigies, the racial slurs and provocations and the tensions leading up to the rally?

RM2.6billion Duit Haram: Liow, it is not just the hawks in Umno, but Najib himself who endorsed what the red shirt marchers. He congratulated them on a job well done.

Why don’t you just say that you and all the ‘penumpang’ value the ministerial posts more than your dignity?

Odin Tajué: The plain truth, Liow, is that you and your fellow MCA - and MIC as well - ministers and deputy ministers are there just for the positions, while Umno have you there only to present a semblance of what you call a plural government.

In actuality, you all are redundant, mere window dressing. An Umno leader already said they don't need you. Now they have called you ‘Cina babi’, but you shameless sycophants simply swallowed the insult.

Anonymous 1689721435778173: The fact that even after you spoke to Najib (no doubt very respectfully), he went ahead to give the speech before the silat members at Dataran Merdeka just goes to show that he does not care two hoots about how you feel.

And you still want to remain in the cabinet? And you say you don't care about positions? Come on, you heard about osmosis? You are getting to be like your lord and master, Najib.

Kawak: Liow, please don't be a hypocrite. Be honest. The hidden hand behind the red shirts rally is the PM himself. You don't have the guts to confront the PM.

Your justification to remain in the cabinet holds no water. After elected to the MCA presidency, you were salivating to be appointed as a minister.

God Save Us: MCA can continue to prostrate and delude itself. The reality is that the opinions of MCA and MIC never ever mattered to Umno.

They receive slaps and offer the other cheek.

Ipoh Pp: Quote: "Despite seemingly ignored, he said MCA still needs to remain in cabinet to ensure Malaysia stays plural and moderate."

You have no shame at all. The head itself was the one who allowed the rally to try to distract the rakyat from his 'donation' problem saying it was in retaliation against Bersih 4 as Malay pride was hurt.

Vent: What hawks are you talking about, Liow? The chief raptor is your own boss, who thanked and congratulated the red shirts instead of condemning their raw racism and incendiary intimidation.

He even declared that there weren’t any “racist signboards or provocative acts” against all the available evidence.

The man is clearly desperate and delusional and has demonstrated to Malaysians that he is only the leader of the Malay rabble rousers. But MCA (and MIC) don’t seem to have a problem with that.

Jalmk: Chinese political power almost extinguished? No problem, Liow. I say let it die and rest in peace. Let’s concentrate in Malaysian politics, instead of Malay or Chinese or Indian politics.

You were throwing this ‘Chinese power extinguishing’ racial card in response to Umno’s ‘Malay government under threat’ card. Both parties were responsible to keep the racial ‘bait’ between the Malay and Chinese communities afloat or alive for future exploitation.

This tactic was very effective in playing up communal sentiments to BN’s advantage. The wealth distribution structure under a race-based regime (such as BN) is reminiscent of zero-sum game; and is naturally prone to political exploitation to cause interethnic tension.

We shall move on from this unhealthy system and find a system that encourages win-win situation for all, regardless of ethnicity.
