Will investigators interview Najib in New York?

YOURSAY | ‘Najib has become an embarrassment to the people of Malaysia.’

Najib arrives in New York to attend UN General Assembly

Commentable: United States President Barack Obama wasn't there to greet golf buddy PM Najib Razak and wife on their arrival? Or is he going to let the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to do the honours for him?

Or maybe he's going to let Najib off so that he can give a lecture or two while addressing the general assembly at the United Nations (UN) headquarters on Oct 1 on the topic of Malay dignity and the patriotism of the red shirts in defending his dignity (whoops... that of his race I mean) on Malaysia Day?

In any event, Najib should be congratulated for winning the contest that even an elephant would have conceded defeat - for being the most thick-skinned.

n1: Indeed, I would be extremely embarrassed to face other world leaders if everyone knew that I am a leader who had allegedly stolen billions from my own country.

Others would just put up a courteous front but nobody will respect, and want to work with, an alleged thief.

Negarawan: Najib has no moral authority to represent Malaysians at the UN.

The UN and the US government should send the strongest message to Najib, just as the delegates in the recent International Anti-Corruption Conference (IACC) conference did.

By not doing so, it would embolden Najib further in his audacious attempts to cover up the 1MDB scandal.

Real Truth: Najib, please enlighten your other leaders how one can allegedly siphon billions from one’s country.

First take control of Finance Ministry and since you are the boss, you can do whatever one wants.

Clongviews: To be fair, nothing will happen to Najib and Rosmah. Their security advisers/strategists would have done the necessary ground work before they left the country.

Of course, there will be no golf session. Obama will be reminded on "I help you, you help me.”

Shovelnose: Why are some naive to think an arrest will take place at this point in time?

Najib have a A-1 visa, which is a diplomatic visa given to all heads of states. No one can touch the holder of such a visa, unless it is revoked by the US president.

Although investigations by the US federal grand jury have commenced, they have not concluded yet.

But is a good time for him to meet the investigation team from New York to clear his name, if he can. Najib, don’t avoid them like you did with our investigators here.

Clever Voter: More than half of UN delegates have tainted characters.

Global problems remain unsolved as long as these warlords continue to serve their personal interests.

Najib joins a list of unenviable list of leaders you can forget, one who will serve his own interest at the expense of his people.

He will come home as a celebrity and worshipped by the red shirts as their hero. The rest can wait, and suffer.

Justine Gow: It looks like he will be away for more than a week. Given the situation that he is presently in, one week is really a long time in politics - too many days to be absent from office.

His number one enemy may now be busily maneuvering. Who knows he may not be able to return from this trip?

He and his golf partner can then work out an arrangement for his exile in Honolulu. Or he may return with a very big surprise waiting for him.

The Mask: Can I suggest a few questions that the journalists at the UN should ask:

1. Where is the balance of the RM2.6 billion ‘donation’?

2. Why did you disband the special task force that was investigating you if you have nothing to hide?

3. Why sack those who questioned you and the RM2.6 billion?

4. Why remove those Public Accounts Committee (PAC) members who were investigating you, thereby immobilised its functions?

These are clearly not actions of an innocent person.

Kuasa Rakyat: Najib is an embarrassment to the people of Malaysia. He says he will not let the people down.

But he has already let the people of Malaysia down big time. He is the worst and most useless PM our country has ever had.

Anonymous_40f4: Maybe he should conduct a crash course for other world leaders on how to convince some Arab to give a billion dollar donation and deposit it into your personal bank account.

I am sure the other world leaders must really envy Najib because he remains as PM and has the support of the Malays.
