Worsening economy will seal Najib’s fate

YOURSAY ‘The depreciating RM may not affect everybody, but appreciating prices will.’

‘Ringgit prospects worsening, may hit RM4.50 to greenback’

Not Confused: Is anyone really surprised at the worsening plight of the ringgit?

With so many corruption scandals surrounding the government, made even worse by the shameful actions of the government in harassing, detaining and threatening so many innocent rakyat under a number of disgusting, discredited and outdated laws, is it any wonder that the international community is looking at Malaysia as not only a corrupt country, but not a wise investment.

Fair Play: Aside from the opinions of these currency 'experts', from the ordinary rakyat’s point of view, the difference between 1997 and now is really this - Dr Mahathir Mohamad versus Najib Abdul Razak.

While Dr M is known as a ruthless and strong leader, today we have a wimp who has no clue what is going on.

He still wants another six months to fix the 1MDB mess after the previous six months had come and gone.

Dont Just Talk: Bank Negara governor Zeti Akhtar Aziz is confident that our ringgit will be strengthened due to our strong economic fundamentals, but she missed the bigger picture of the massive corruption carried out by Umno Baru leaders, causing a lack of confidence by local and foreign investors.

With the absurd 1MDB debt and the US$700 million allegedly wired into the prime minister’s personal account and the daily sabre-rattling of riots by the red shirt leader Jamal Md Yunos, how could our ringgit gain against the US dollar, with foreign exchange rate at US$1 to RM4.3 and S$1 to RM3.1.

The best part is while Malaysia is in a state of turmoil, Najib is in New York, doing what, only God knows.

The Patriot 17: Malaysia and its people must suffer and be taught a lesson for voting BN. Let the ringgit hit five to the greenback because Zeti is a disgraceful governor who must resign when the inevitable doomsday happens.

The rakyat must have their backs against the wall and feel the pain and pressure. Then people will start revolting to bring the kleptocrats down. No, let this nation be damned first before it can rise from the ashes like a phoenix.

The more the ringgit bleeds, the faster Najib’s political demise. Death is only the beginning. This will be followed by the birth of a great Malaysian nation.

Yap Cs: Imprudent fiscal policies by the BN government which spends on unnecessary things and bloated civil service as if there is inexhaustible income; corruption when billions are diverted to 'buy' elections, the unrealistic cronies' incompetent ventures, politicking using rent-a-mob and other campaigns to shore up the kleptomaniac duo grip on power, or just simply diverted to disappear into overseas accounts; the list just goes on.

The tipping point when the economy collapses is not going to be a gradual process. Rather it will be a sudden catastrophic explosive event.

Fair&Just: Thanks the laws of the universe, karma and natural justice, no amount of spinning, lying, cheating and twisting can prevent the ringgit slide. It proves that good shall triumph over evil.

Sleepy: The depreciating ringgit may not affect everybody, but appreciating prices will.

Anonymous_1377321471: Now we shall decide - whose interest is more crucial at this difficult time? The people and the nation, or PM Najib Razak and his cronies? Is this still an option open to us?

1MDB’s dollar bonds slump as probes hurt sentiment

Justine Gow: This 1MDB fiasco has gone on for far too long without any conclusion, as that someone still refuses to step down after receiving so many blows.

It is like reading a draggy novel which I would like to skip many pages to the end to see a satisfactory ending (with the bad guys in jail).

Paul Warren: If they are so confident of their financial position, 1MDB should be out there buying up these bonds at the present lower price and cancelling them out.

Or are they waiting for them to become junk bonds before they start buying them up and reaping a profit from it?

Lady GaGa: The intervention by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in the 1MDB issue is one way for US to meddle with the running of this country.

The government, especially the PM, should act more pro-actively in dealing with the 1MDB issue immediately.

Roger 5201: Why can't Najib come clean on 1MDB beyond saying he never benefited personally from it and save us from the unfair perception.

Are our red shirts going to rally in front of the US embassy now?

Evensteven: No offence meant, but Najib you're jinxed. The Chinese believe if you bathe with pomelo leaves you can ditch your bad luck.

Why don't you try that? There’s nothing to lose.
