Masterful handling of big trouble in Little China

YOURSAY | 'Huang's remarks were perfectly in order. It is the ambassador's duty to do so.'

Huang: Don’t make my visit an anti-Malaysian gov’t issue

Casey: What China Ambassador to Malaysia Huang Huikang had said was appropriate and timely. In fact, not only should all world leaders speak up, they should strongly condemn the kind of racial and religious bigotries advocated and advanced by Umno.

Nowhere else in the free world can you find a government that, perversely or otherwise, threatens its people with riots; holds the nation to ransom; practices prejudice against its citizens; promotes racial and religious bigotries; or openly condones corruption and abuse.

Without the connivance or acquiescence of the powers-that-be - to bring about confusion and to divert attention from real and pressing issues - sycophants like Ismail Sabri Yaakob, Ali Rustam, Annuar Musa, Salleh Said Keruak, Abdul Rahman Dahlan (much less the little rabble rousers, such as Jamal Mohd Yunos) would not have behaved the way they behave.

Anonymous 2326501438321389: The remarks are perfectly in order. In fact, it is the ambassador’s duty to do so.

How come Malaysians never complain when the United States talks of human rights abuses in this country? Instead PM Najib Razak goes to US to play golf with the country’s president and thinks it's a great honour.

FellowMalaysian: Huang said that if the goodwill is continuously twisted, it may affect the relations (between the two countries).

How true and this I believe is directed to Putrajaya and in particular, to ministers Khairy Jamaluddin, Abdul Rahman and Salleh Keruak.

LYY: Indeed, a masterful handling of the issue by China's ambassador versus the clumsy, amateurish, confused, inconsistent, racist, and pathetic reactions of the wannabe Umno masters.

Tan Kim Keong: It looks like the Umno ministers have met their nemesis in circumlocution in the person of this Chinese ambassador.

The clear difference is that the ambassador stood up against vile behaviour linked to racism and bigotry.

Anonymous Hotplate: Mr Ambassador, you have explained yourself well enough but sad to say Umno leaders and the party’s youths won't be able to fully understand you.

They are so obsessed with racial hatred that their brains are too shallow to think, especially when there is 'one man' who is paying them.

This has always been a beautiful and peaceful nation. We never had any problems, but now with a power-crazed leader we are facing a lot of problems.

Anon1: Your Excellency, please don't bother explaining to these hyper-sensitives. They'll find a way to pin the haze problem on you, including blaming you for the RM2.6 billion ‘donation’ as well.

Nothing is beyond them when it comes to defending their empty pride and worthless dignity.

Anonymous_1389801797: Clearly, this regime through its red shirt thugs is out to create issues in order to distract people's attention away from the 1MDB scandal.

Takeiteasy: Never mind the trouble generated by your visit, you have actually helped Malaysians resolve some issues which were manufactured by the top leaders of the government. A big thank you to the ambassador.

Li Ta Wa: Huang, you should instead ask the Malaysian government to explain what "Cina babi" means.

If the Malaysian premier who defended the racist rally of Sept 16 refuses to apologise, then you should really be advising your nationals to avoid visiting Malaysia as they could be called pigs here.

Fair&Just: Just tell the truth to your people. Tell them not to come here for the Chinese are 'Cina babi' and not welcome here, and can just be wantonly and blatantly bashed up like the three innocent Chinese passers-by in the Low Yat case.

Cascara: All this because of 'Dato Ikan Bakar.' And he managed to get away scot-free after he sparked a diplomatic row.

Negarawan: Ambassador Huang, fair-minded Malaysians are with you, and would have done the same thing in your shoes.

You are in the midst of a country devoid of any sound and intelligent leadership in the government, hence the unprofessional and unethical reactions that you have received. Take a look at Singapore. No such nonsensical diplomatic incidents have ever taken place.

Fair-minded Malaysians are very proud and fortunate to have good friends like you in this difficult period in our history.

Odysseus: Now, we know why you kept referring to your text. You need to keep your statement politically correct. You did a great job in averting any possible problem.

Spinnot: “His meeting with acting Foreign Minister Hamzah Zainuddin, Huang added, did not fall into the category of a ‘call in’.”

Indeed, Deputy Foreign Minister Reezal Merican Naina Merican called you in, but you did not see him. You saw Hamzah instead, who did not call you in.
