Umno supreme council member Tajuddin Abdul Rahman has denied threatening to slap Chinese Malaysians despite an audio recording proving otherwise.

Therefore, the deputy minister deputy agriculture and agro-based industry minister said, MCA Youth chief Chong Sin Woon should apologise to him for demanding that he apologise.

"Why should I apologise? What wrong did I do?"

"What is reported by Malaysiakini ... That was not necessarily what I said," Tajuddin told Malaysiakini .

He insisted that the report published by the news portal yesterday had not done justice to him as he was misinterpreted and misquoted.

As for Chong ( photo ), Tajuddin said the MCA Youth chief should meet him instead of airing his views through the media.

"Was he there at the press conference? He only picked up what was reported by Malaysiakini, which was not reported entirely correct," he said.

"Don't talk so much; come to see me. I am not worried. I have done nothing wrong," added Tajuddin, the MP for Pasir Salak.

"You just don't know what I have said, what was my intention. There is no reason for anybody to be angry (at me)," he claimed.

Tajuddin insisted he did not say the words ' lempang Chinese' at the press conference yesterday.

Asked about the audio recording uploaded on the Malaysiakini website, he argued that the recording could have been taken somewhere else.

"You were not there; you just listen to the audio. Audio can be (taken) anywhere," he said.

"You tell your editor to better be careful. I’ll get my lawyer to issue a letter to you," Tajuddin warned.

'How can I use stupid words like that?'

In the report in The Star today, Tajuddin said such words "are not suitable for a veteran politician like him; this is schoolchildren's language".

"I am not a young boy; how can I use words like that ? How can I use stupid words like that?" he asked.

Tajuddin's comment came in the wake of a diplomatic row caused by the visit to Petaling Street by China’s Ambassador Huang Huikang on the eve of a controversial rally, which was subsequently aborted.

Tajuddin told Chinese Malaysians to stop dreaming that a 'Godfather' from China would come to their aid.

He then issued a 'slap' warning to Chinese Malaysians who complain too much.
