Umno secretary-general Tengku Adnan blamed the party-owned Utusan Malaysia for exacerbating the diplomatic flap involving Chinese ambassador to Malaysia Huang Huikang.

"The Chinese ambassador went to Petaling Street with good intentions. But Utusan Malaysia reported based on (DAP's) Ronnie Liu and Teresa Kok's blog and twisted it into the headlines, and it became a problem.

"Please don't be lazy lah , work a bit la," he told a press conference in Kuala Lumpur today.

However, it was not clear which Utusan articles he was referring to.

Utusan in its Sunday edition Mingguan Malaysia published a commentary urging China to deal with sex workers from China purportedly entering Malaysia, instead of meddling in other domestic affairs.

The commentary on Sept 28 was published under the pseudonym ‘Awang Selamat’, which is jointly-used by Utusan editors.

Malaysiakini has contacted Utusan for a response.

Media should stop stirring s***

Utusan was not the only media entity in Tengku Adnan’s crosshairs today.

The federal territories minister also chastised the media for not letting up on Deputy Agriculture and Agro-based Industries Minister Tajuddin Abdul Rahman's remark to 'slap' Chinese Malaysians who complain to China over domestic affairs.

"These kind of stories, kill it! Why do you keep on stirring this story, like the opposition. The s*** you stir. (It) smells very good you know," he said.

He also urged the media not to pit old and current Umno leaders against each other.

He said this when asked why Umno is not taking action against former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad (photo) , who is on a mission to oust Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.

"Slander nowadays is not spread by word of mouth, but through hands," he said, while typing on an imaginary keyboard.

He then pointed to media practitioners typing away on their mobile phones and said: "This is the slander!"

"Write more slander! Then your hands will be chopped off,” he quipped.
