PAS can’t be trusted on no-confidence vote

YOURSAY | 'They are known for backstabbing, so don't trust them to be on your side.'

PKR: All to be consulted on no-confidence vote

Anonymous Hotplate: Opposition leader Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail might as well beg the BN MPs from Sabah and Sarawak to support the no-confidence vote against PM Najib Razak than to ask PAS, which will later shame her right in the face.

They are known for backstabbing, so don't trust them to be on your side. It's better to try and work with known enemies like Sabah, Sarawak and some peninsular BN MPs who may be willing to do good.

Try your luck, Kak Wan, as it is for something good for the nation and its people.

Anonymous_1430461478: PAS members just want to show their stupidity knowing very well whether they support or otherwise, the whole opposition bench does not have the numbers to defeat BN MPs unless they get the votes from the latter.

It's wiser to have an intelligent discussion with sensible thinking MP from the ruling party for the sake of our country's economy, which is rotting by the day as long as Prime Minister Najib Razak is the PM. The BN MPs know the whole world knows what's going on.

Kawak: PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan, don't waste time asking for a meeting with PKR. Your party president, Abdul Hadi Awang, has already issued a decree to all PAS MPs not to vote against the PM.

The Analyser: My guess is that PAS will not support a no-confidence vote motion for the simple reason that they aren't confident enough that they can gain control at the moment, and control is what they want.

However, all those who are paranoid will automatically assume that it's because PAS is siding with Umno and trying to undermine the opposition.

Husam: I would like to be with PAS until death

RCZ : Another politician who thinks he can make change from within. You can only change people if they are willing to listen to contrary views.

Otherwise it's a waste of time, and former PAS vice-president Husam Musa is welcome to stay in the archaic party. That's democracy.

Sleepy: I understand your actions, considering there are still some moderates in PAS like there is former Temerloh MP Saifuddin Abdullah in Umno.

Hplooi: History is replete with dogmatists who drive a movement from its original 'pure' intention into a serious, contradictory and extreme stance.

For example, the French revolution was driven by a people made desperate by poverty, engendered by an unfeeling ruling aristocrat.

However the French revolution originally led by the liberal Girondist (the seminal moment in human history, the 'Declarations of the rights of Man') were then sidelined by Maximilien Robespierre, which led to the reign of (extreme) terror.

In more recent history, the Russian Communist Party originally dominated by the more liberal Mensheviks (who were in the majority) were forced out by the Bolsheviks (the 'minority' led by one VI Lenin) which led to the genocide of the Russian kulaks (small land owners).

Thus the 'dictatorship of the proletariat' which came into being is the literary background to the allegory by George Orwell (author of ‘Animal Farm’). The pejorative 'Orwellian' therefore perfectly fits this clinging to "die as a PAS man".

Sometimes hardcore ideologues are more dangerous than the so-called 'liberals'. By hardcore ideologues I mean those who are dogmatists who cling on unremittingly and doggedly onto a dogma, despite reality on the ground showing contradictions, failures or degrees of failures of the dogma.

By 'liberals' I mean those who are willing to modify their 'dogma' to take into account reality and new facts which show weaknesses in the original 'dogma'.

Done: Too bad, Husam, you’re a good leader.

Azmin dismisses talk of Rafizi's removal as sec-gen

Ferdtan: If PKR were to drop Rafizi Ramli as secretary-general, it will be the end of PKR. We shall finish off PKR in the next election. We will let it happen even if Selangor were to fall to BN. This is to punish PKR.

It has come to a stage where principle is more important than winning an election. Winning at all cost by including PAS now and then let them betray the coalition later is what we fear the most.

This is not hearsay; it is a fact (as revealed by ex-PAS leaders) when they tried to form Umno-PAS unity government in 2008. In 2013, they even caused problem for PKR in the Selangor MB issue.

Why the insistence of having PAS in the Pakatan Harapan coalition when they are not interested to join at all? We have an alternative in Parti Amanah Negara which was just formed.

Why PKR keeps on wooing an unwilling suitor? If this goes on, we prefer PKR to split with pro-PAS Azmin Ali on one side and those who prefer the Amanah/DAP grouping on the other side.

BN have been ruling the country for over five decades so what difference does it make if the opposition cannot make it to Putrajaya? This will serve the opposition right. We are just fed-up with PKR.

Anonymous 122461436161429: To Rafizi and the rest of PKR, please note that the people are watching and weighing your actions.

I think it is crystal clear that the urbanites have no trust in PAS and are looking for a viable alternative and that seems to be Amanah as it contains many intelligent and right-thinking Malays.

As for the rural areas, reach an understanding with PAS or else kick them out if they are unreasonable and take your chances in GE14.

Kamikasi: If Rafizi goes, Pakatan is left with only bones.
