Talk is cheap, what will MCA do about BN racism?

YOURSAY | 'MCA's sandiwara is excellent. You pat my back and I pat your back.'

MCA chief tells PM of concern for 'dangerous racial flame'

Fairnsquare: We have to appreciate the fact that MCA president Liow Tiong Lai has expressed the concerns of the non-Malays. What action Premier Najib Abdul Razak takes, will impact the popularity of the BN and its future.

MCA must also decide if it wants to remain in the BN or join the opposition front, which is gaining momentum, due to selfish acts committed by certain leaders.

Sadly, Umno seems to have lost its relevance and has forgotten the rakyat, while trying to protect a leadership, with questionable interests. This even led to misinterpreting the rulers' concerns on racial harmony and the 1MDB fiasco.

Simple Malaysian: Liow, noble thoughts indeed but they remain just that - thoughts. Do you really believe setting up a council will be effective?

It will be another puppet or tool used by Umno. Or its leaders will be discredited somewhere along the line (if they are really determined and righteous). Or members will be reassigned to another newly formed council.

On the other hand, I think all this was just a wayang to tell the people, I could tell this straight to the premier's face.

Samurai: I believe BN has a supreme council too, but it is totally useless, so why have another useless council? Especially when the one calling the shots on the matter is the very man you are speaking to, Liow.

All a PM needs to do is put his foot down and issue a strong statement against any perpetrator, as what any leader of another country would do in a similar situation, and the matter would come to an end. But our mute PM’s ever elegant silence is what fuels incidents such as pointed out by Liow.

Come on, when the chief waves his arms after the incident and praises those involved, what more is there to say? Cut the crap, Liow, we are used to MCA’s Shakespearean theatrics.

Labis Guy: If you care to look at the situation now, there are only a few jokers like the ikan bakar guy Umno's Jamal Md Yunus and that so-called Ali Tinju. If our prime minister is serious, these two guys should be sent to an island to live by themselves, and the country will be very peaceful.

Clongviews: Najib gave the chance for you MCA people to talk, otherwise the AGM would be dull. And of course he will emphasise on issues you like to hear.

As usual the leaders will use the same themes - Chinese education, Chinese will lose without MCA in government. As secretary general Ong Ka Chuan said, MCA is in a dilemma.

Mantra888: That guy is the main culprit and he mentioned he was concerned? Why must MCA politicians be so self-centred?

Lawfool: Liow Tiong Lai, who are you? You are begging for more ministerial posts on one hand and on other, you are trying not to kneel down to this master. No way. Please say loudly: Yes, sir. I fully support you unconditionally till the end of the world.

Citizen No.26: The sandiwara (act) is excellent. You pat my back and I pat your back. Together, we put up a great show for the Chinese schools and now the Chinese schoolteachers and parents will support MCA for GE14. Hypocrites.

Relevancy: When one is seen to flip, what comes next, is the flop. That is the problem this nation is going through.

Bumiputhran: Hey Liow, listen, and listen good. Najib needs the support of Malays as his vote bank. He will continue to antagonise and demonise the Chinese to get the Malays to cheer him. Get real, my friend.

Paul Warren: Don't feign concern if you are unable to name the perpetrators. Sure, they are Najib's friends. And they are all Umno members and supporters and they are doing all that they are doing in order to, in their collective minds, to strengthen Umno.

This is why no one in Umno criticises them. Not even Muhyiddin, who got sacked by Najib, and not even Mahathir, to whom Umno is god. No point speaking in tongues and parables. You are not exactly the saviour.

Sound Mind: You are a coward. You worry about MCA disintegrating and now talking about issues which you should have addressed immediately. In fact, it is some of these leaders who are causing all these problems. Looks like selfish people, for wealth and position, may do anything.

Anonymous_1371487988: Liow, for once, can you show us you have the guts to stand up against Umno and its ilk. If MCA has to quit BN, just quit. Is it that you guys love your ministerial and other governmental positions more than anything else? Please show to the Malaysian Chinese you have guts.

RCZ: Yup, tell off the premier. So brave of you. The premier is going to run out the door and put a stop to the nonsense just like he did with billions lost in 1MDB on false deals, billions found in his account with no explanation and just like how he stopped PAC, MACC, the AG, etc.

The question that everyone is asking of MCA is what is MCA going to do if Najib and Umno don't put a stop and allow it to be fanned, allow 'Cina babi' and 'slap' remarks and allow rallies with threats of violence?

Ash burn: Wayang only. Why now? Should have spoken earlier. This is proof it's all window dressing.

Mickeymouse: You telling Najib about racial tension? Wake up, lah.

Spinnot: But the 'dangerous racial flame' is needed to divert attention from the real issues, and more. So how?
