Pua: Why no action against 1MDB CEO Shahrol Halmi?
1MDB president Arul Kanda Kandasamy has been urged to confirm if the new set of minutes published by Sarawak Report yesterday are genuine.
“If they are indeed genuine as we all suspect they are, doesn’t it immediately prove many of the purportedly ‘wild allegations’ against 1MDB?” asked DAP parliamentarian Tony Pua.
The Petaling Jaya Utara MP said if the document is authentic, then why no action had ever been taken against certain directors over matters revealed at the said meeting.
The minutes for the meeting dated Sept 18, 2009 recorded the board of director’s sentiments related to the US$1 billion investment with Petrosaudi International Limited.
“1MDB’s top management - Casey Tang, and the then CEO, Shahrol Halmi, blatantly misled and completely ignored the opinions of the board.
"Such contempt for the board decisions must certainly be punished.
“Why is it that the Ministry of Finance has never taken any action against these reckless and defiant executives?
“In fact, Shahrol Halmi still remains a director in 1MDB, as well as a director of Pemandu, the Performance Management Delivery Unit in the Prime Minister’s Department?” asked Pua, a member in the now-stalled parliamentary public accounts committee (PAC) probing 1MDB.
