PARLIAMENT The final session of the Parliament sitting got off to a heated start, with war of words erupting in the House and two opposition lawmakers given the marching orders.

Lim Lip Eng (DAP-Segambut) was the first to be shown the exit for interfering with parliamentary proceedings, when he stood up to enquire why his emergency motion on toll hikes had been rejected.

Speaker Pandikar Amin Mulia then booted Gobind Singh Deo for offending him when the DAP-Puchong MP attempted to defend Lim.

Lim had argued that his motion should not have been rejected as there was room for one after Pandikar turned down Teresa Kok's (DAP-Seputeh) emergency motion on the disappearance of orang asli children in Gua Musang, Kelantan.

Pandikar, however, believed Lim had intended to disrupt the House proceedings.

When Lim refused to sit down, the speaker ordered parliamentary officers to escort him out.

When Gobind stood up, Pandikar explained that both motions were not urgent and could be debated during the budget.

Gobind rebutted, saying the speaker had to be honest.

"You have to honest and clear in the decisions you make," he said, angering Pandikar.

"The moment you said I have to be honest, you have questioned my integrity," the speaker shot back.

Gobind was then given the boot after continuously trying to defend his remarks and refusing to retract his statement.

At a press conference later, the ejected duo said the reason for the speaker to boot them out was questionable.

This was because the house had already rejected a motion brought by Kok.

"My motion was rejected as the speaker said there can only be one urgent motion per day," said Lim.

"The speaker said his decision is final. Before I can say my piece, I was kicked out," he said.

"The speaker said there is another motion by Kok that needed to be expedited," he said.

"But Kok said her motion was rejected too," said Lim.

"This made the reason for the speaker to reject Lim's motion questionable," added Gobind.
"I stated the principle that in arriving at a decision, a correct decision needs to be made so (that there is) no allegation of dishonesty," he said.

"I want him (speaker) to explain so that there is no perception of dishonesty on the part of the House," he said, adding that the speaker missed the chance to make the correct decision.

He denied that he had called Pandikar dishonest.
He urged the speaker to allow the lawmakers space to speak.

"With due respect, I find the speaker very angry this morning. You have to control your anger," he said.

"It's a shame; this is the first day of Parliament sitting. We have a lot to debate today," he said.
