YOURSAY | ‘Najib is not going to lose any sleep over this ‘only 31pct Malay support’ report.’
Poll: Malay approval for Najib's gov't hits all-time low
Quigonbond:
This piece of polling result is earth-shaking, to say the least. The country has always belonged to the Malay majority.
It's nice to know that finally the Malays are waking up despite a heavily censored mainstream media that's lopsided in its reporting and constant demonising of the opposition, among whom now includes people like former PM Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
PM Najib Abdul Razak has been surreptitiously using the red shirts to shore up support for himself. That has effectively backfired among the Malays themselves.
If Umno MPs do not have guts to call for a no-confidence motion, I suspect the next Bersih rally will see a much heightened attendance by Malays, putting to rest once and for all that it is a "Chinese" or "DAP" thing and putting an end to Umno’s fear that it can't do without Najib.
Those in the Election Commission (EC), the inspector-general of police (IGP), the Attorney-General’s Chambers and the judiciary must wake up to this reality.
The PM will be ousted, and in the mid-term, Umno. They might as well do the right thing now and preserve what is left of their credibility and dignity.
Ferdtan: So, only 31 percent of Malays are satisfied with the government. I believe it is because many of them don’t support Najib, not Umno. So the opposition should not be complacent as well.
They have to get their act together and decide once and for all to leave PAS out and stick with the newly-formed party Amanah, and work hard in the next two years to prepare for the next general election.
Right now, the opposition is dead. The unity among themselves is non-existent. PKR should take the blame for its indecision.
Is there one or two opposition coalitions? Nobody knows. If the politicians are not bold enough and dare not move into uncharted waters by ditching PAS, then the opposition doesn’t deserve Putrajaya seat.
Kingfisher: Despite what is being professed and what is apparently articulated by government leaders about Malaysia being a country that is blessed , the common peoples' realities and real world struggles of ordinary Malaysians are increasingly burdened by a grim and despondent mood.
CQ Muar: Even with Christmas more than two months away, our Malaysian ‘Santa Claus’ is considering the necessity of giving out monetary gifts ahead of the festival. This is in view of the drop in support among the Malays for Najib's government.
As such, with the RM2.6 billion safely tugged under his belt, the PM will have no qualms to dish out another round of goodies to entice voters in order to stay in power, particularly the rural folk.
RM2.6billion Duit Haram: The Malay mindset has changed and is more analytical than that of their parents and grandparents. But Najib is still playing the same old tune - that the Malay race and Islam are threatened - to win them over.
They no longer buy Najib's rhetoric. On top of that, his stubborn refusal to come clean on 1MDB must be taking a heavy toll on his popularity.
It’s good to learn that more Malays no longer tolerate his nonsense. Umno losing the next election is now a possibility.
Nila: The opposition will nevertheless have a tough time in the next GE. Look what happened to DAP and PAS. DAP and PAS are constantly at loggerheads. Meanwhile Amanah under Pakatan Harapan is not ready for the battle.
Multi Racial: The only way BN can win is to cheat. If they are honest, they would have forced Najib to resign by now as Umno and BN will lose Putrajaya and almost all the states in GE14 if they continue this way and don’t cheat in the elections.
Ethnicmalaysian: This is truly wonderful news. But I'm absolutely torn between wanting Najib out and stem the terrible damage being wrought on the country and wanting him to stay if that would ensure the destruction of Umno in the next GE.
This is for me, the current existential Malaysian dilemma.
Prudent: I hope the Najib regime does not resort to race and religion divide-and-rule policies and provocations to try to regain Malay support.
Beep!: Don't hope, Prudent. Just fight any attempt at division. Think Malaysian first!
Headhunter: Najib is hanging by a thread. Racism and bigotry do not work for him anymore. Neither is street violence nor draconian laws. The man is finished. Kaput.
Doc: I don't think Najib is going to lose any sleep over this report about the Malays having overwhelming lost confidence in him and his administration.
I am sure that Najib is confident that he can rely on the good people of Sabah and Sarawak to continue to vote for him and keep him in power.
Now that the redelineation process in Sarawak can proceed, thanks to Federal Court, I guess Najib can be sure to continue on as PM even if Peninsular Malaysians overwhelming vote against him and BN.
