PARLIAMENT Mara chairperson Annuar Musa criticised PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli today for accusing a Mara Investment executive of complicity in the council's Australian property scandal.

Annuar said just because the executive was linked to the companies involved before joining Mara, it doesn't mean he is guilty of a crime.

"For example, someone in PKR was convicted of ‘homosexuality’ (sodomy).

“Can I say that the Pandan MP (Rafizi) did the same by association?" Annuar told a press conference at the Parliament lobby today.

The Mara chairperson was referring to PKR supremo Anwar Ibrahim, who was convicted of sodomy and is serving a five-year jail term.

Annuar went on to defend the Mara executives, saying none of them had been charged with any offence.

Rafizi on Tuesday claimed that a Mara Investment executive had escaped the council's scrutiny despite links to the companies involved in the dubious Dudley House property deals.

The PKR lawmaker said the executive's name had popped up in Australian court documents regarding the case.

Rafizi plans to release the documents because of the inaction.

However, Annuar said Rafizi should go direct to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission to assist with investigations.

He said the council was also assisting with the investigation and that it would not interfere with the investigations.

Annuar also said Mara is expected to pay PriceWaterhouse RM2 million to conduct a forensic external audit on the council.

"The council has discussed it, and said 'OK' to bearing the high cost. We will hope for the best," he said, adding that RM2 million is the usual cost for such an audit.
