Selangor Menteri Besar Azmin Ali has denied speculation that PKR’s latest high profile member, Saifuddin Abdullah, will replace him through a “Rawang Move”.

He was responding to a claim made by a blog, Babab.net, that the Rawang Move was aimed at removing him as menteri besar.

“What is this Rawang Move? There is no such thing. Don’t listen to speculation, I have never heard of this because it’s not true,” Azmin is quoted as saying in an Utusan Malaysia report today.

The blog claimed that Rawang assemblyperson Gan Pei Nei would vacate her seat to make way for Saifuddin ( photo ) to contest in a by-election.

According to the blog, the move to remove Azmin was initiated after his apparent refusal to remove PAS members from the Selangor state executive council posts.

Last year, PKR removed former Selangor menteri besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim through the “Kajang Move”.

PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim was supposed to contest the Kajang state seat after its assemblyperson then, Lee Chin Cheh, vacated the seat.

However, Anwar was subsequently convicted on his Sodomy II charge and his wife, PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, contested the seat.

However, Azmin became the menteri besar after Pakatan Rakyat was not able to agree on the candidate for the menteri besar post.
