Nasha for GMM shows moderates are few and far between

YOURSAY | ‘What? Ridhuan Tee Abdullah would have been a better choice.’

Nasharudin replaces Saifuddin at moderates movement

Legit: Our hero went to the United Nations a few years ago and declared the formation of a so-called Global Movement of Moderates (GMM). Nobody gave two hoots about it except himself.

He came back and set up the NGO using Malaysian taxpayers' money. He never walked the talk of his grand idea and everything has since fallen apart.

Former Umno supreme council member Saifuddin Abdullah, who was appointed CEO of GMM, has grown increasingly frustrated with the initiative due to the double talk and all the scandals surrounding the hero. So he left.

Now the hero has found someone by the name of (former PAS deputy president) Nasharudin Mat Isa to replace Saifuddin. What a joke.

Mojo Jojo: Take a look, people! Nasharudin is the new poster boy for moderation in Malaysia.

Kudaku Lari: The appointment of Nasharudin as GMM chief is a slap on the face of Umno members.

Why Najib has to pick an ex-PAS man for the post whereas there are many in Umno who are qualified? Is this guy really a moderate, just look at him?

Odysseus: Najib is really running short of talents. I rest my case.

Bluemountains: It is as clear as daylight that PAS and Umno have remarried. If Selangor Menteri Besar Azmin Ali still insists on working with PAS in the state, PKR has to act fast to replace him before the opposition is destroyed.

Abasir: PAS + Umno = Moderation?

Like RM2.6 billion secretly deposited into Najib's account is a 'donation', like 1MDB's business strategy and corporate conduct is flawless and exemplary, like the alleged first lady of Malaysia (Flom) is the epitome of frugal living and high thinking?

VP Biden: What? Controversial lecturer and columnist Ridhuan Tee Abdullah would have been a better choice.

YF: Nash is not a moderate; he is a modulate for Umno.

PAS and Umno dancing closer, says Guan Eng on new GMM boss

Thequest: The ideal candidate is one who is apolitical, is not known to represent the exclusive interest of any one religious community in public forum, has a good track record in promoting moderation, as well as racial and religious unity, and work for the interest of Malaysians as a whole.

It is hoped that the PM will reconsider his nominee to head GMM. It is a wrong choice, for sure.

Someone like Dr Chandra Muzaffar, for all his mistakes, should have been considered in view of his pioneering efforts in fostering unity through Aliran.

Oh Ya?: If what DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng alludes to is true, PAS is already in a tango with Perkasa and now close to dancing with Umno. So why is DAP still in bed with PAS in the Selangor state government?

How could it hang on to power on such flimsy excuses as "loose coalition based on defunct Pakatan Rakyat's common policy platform" and "separation of government and political parties"?

What rubbish? Where are the party’s political principles, integrity and morality?

The Analyser: Well done, Guan Eng. So you are again trying to stir up fear amongst the Chinese about a PAS/Umno coalition. What’s your problem? You know as well as I do that it will never happen.

The reality is you have nothing to offer Malaysian voters so you try to attract them through fear. Sounds just like Umno to me.

Pakatan has had endless opportunities to promote themselves through their common policy framework but they never do.

That makes me ask: Have you so little confidence in your framework that you have to resort to underhand negative Islam-style fear tactics?

Just for once try to be positive and try to attract support with ideas instead of mudslinging.

In most civilised developed/developing countries in the world, politicians seek support by talking about the basic political philosophy of their party and their plans and promises for the future.

In Malaysia, all the 'mature, intelligent and sophisticate' politicians can do is run one another down.

Homesick: The Analyser, just wondering who do you actually vote for? Or you don't bother to vote? Are you 100 percent sure that a PAS/Umno alliance will never happen?

Astounded: Saifuddin has the credibility to be CEO of GMM as he is known to be a moderate.

As for Nasharudin, you may as well appoint former Malacca chief minister Mohd Ali Rustam or red shirt leader Jamal Mohd Yunos instead.

They are all the same. They are the very antithesis of what a moderate stands for.
