No stupid excuses, be a man, Pua responds to Arul
DAP lawmaker Tony Pua has urged 1MDB boss Arul Kanda Kandasamy to be 'man enough' and stop providing 'stupid excuses' such as requiring him to quit from the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) before accepting his challenge to participate in a live talk show with him on the 1MDB issue.
"I promise I will be very civil, I won't raise my feet, I won't beat him up," he said.
He said since Arul Kanda was fond of humiliating him through the media, the 1MDB resident and executive director should not let the opportunity slip to hurl such remarks to his face.
"How can he pass on an opportunity to shame me, " the Petaling Jaya Utara MP told reporters at the Parliament lobby.
"Stop giving stupid condition, accept the challenge like a man and let's meet on live talk show," he said.
He described Arul Kanda's statement that he would accept the 'live show' challenge only if Pua quit as a PAC member as a 'stupid excuse'.
"This is outright contempt of PAC and Parliament,” said the DAP MP.
Earlier, Arul Kanda said Pua must first resign from PAC to maintain the integrity of the PAC’s investigation into 1MDB and to avoid any conflict of interest.
Said Pua: "Is there conflict of interest at all? I can raise questions in PAC; whatever (is said) in PAC is privileged (information) until a report is tabled in Parliament.
"Does that mean I cannot ask questions outside PAC (hearing) that are not raised in the hearing? There is no rule or law saying that I cannot pursue a matter of public interest outside the PAC.”
"It doesn't make sense at all," he said.
